WORLD WORLDWIDE EUROPE BELGIUM BRUSSELS - The Toots Jazz Club - 👉 A Proper Week of Jazz at Toots.

👉 A Proper Week of Jazz at Toots

🇧🇪 🇫🇷

🇬🇧

Hello from Toots!

Jazz and a hint of spring — just what we need to keep things moving.

This Wednesday, the jam session led by our powerhouse drummer Marek Patrman, joined by the brilliant Erik Vermeulen and the outstanding Geraud Portal for a high-level opening set. No unnecessary superlatives in the solos, promise.

Thursday, after the apero with Adinda Hertmans and Joachim Caffonnette, Antoine Lissoir dives into the timeless repertoire of Django Reinhardt… plugged into 220 volts. An electric, energetic take on Django that keeps the swing but pushes things forward. With a band like this, expect something lively and genuinely exciting.

Friday, after discovering her in jam sessions and hearing her interpret standards with elegance at the apero, we welcome Adinda Hertmans in prime time with her own project. Surrounded by some of the finest musicians around — Wajdi Riahi, Fil Caporali and Umberto Odone — she brings a voice that’s getting noticed across Belgium. The late jam will be opened by our prince of swing, Mathieu De Wit.

Saturday, after Friday’s youthful energy, it’s time for a veteran of the Belgian scene. Daniel Stokart presents his quartet, with whom he has been developing a direct, organic and deeply expressive music over the past years. His warm and precise saxophone sound is supported by Martin Salemi on piano and a rhythm section well known to jazz lovers: Manolo Cabras and Joao Lobo. For the late jam, singer Eleonora Albani will kick things off.

Sunday afternoon, Guillaume Gillain leads a tribute to Kenny Burrell. A guitarist of rare taste, often associated with Wynton Kelly, Kenny Burrell is still too rarely performed today, despite music that remains an absolute pleasure.
And to close the week, Italian pianist Franco Piccinno in trio. Inspired compositions and great command of the instrument: even if he’s not the most famous name from a country that produces outstanding pianists, he is well worth discovering on our small club stage.

Adinda Hertmans (voc) ; Wajdi Riahi (p) ; Fil Caporali (db) ; Daniel Jonkers (dr)

Regulars at Toots know her well: they often spot her around aperitif time, performing in duo with Joachim Caffonnette, or during the jam sessions where she never fails to make an impression. Adinda Hertmans, winner of the Toots Thielemans Award 2025, is undoubtedly the voice everyone in the Belgian jazz scene is talking about today.

At just 24 years old, the daughter of Peter Hertmans — a leading figure of jazz guitar in Belgium — already impresses with her remarkable vocal control, as well as with her deep understanding of harmony and repertoire, displaying a striking level of maturity.

Tonight, she takes the prime-time stage leading her own quartet, presenting her original repertoire and surrounded by some of the most talented musicians of the young Brussels jazz generation. An artist to keep a very close eye on.

Nostalgia In Grand Place : Kenny Burrell - Tribute
dimanche 22 mars - 16:00
Guillaume Gillain (g) ; Joachim Caffonnette (p) ; Victor Foulon (b) ; Lucas Vanderputten (dr)

For this new edition of Nostalgia in Grand Place, Toots pays tribute to one of the great masters of jazz guitar: Kenny Burrell.

A central figure in American jazz, Burrell left a lasting mark on the history of the instrument with his elegant, deeply blues-infused playing and remarkable sense of subtlety. His warm tone and impeccable groove gave rise to a series of now legendary recordings — among them the iconic Midnight Blue — where blues, swing and hard bop come together with unmatched simplicity and class.

Through this program, the musicians of this quartet revisit this timeless repertoire, bringing these refined and soulful themes back to life. In the intimate atmosphere of the club, they explore the full richness of this music, moving effortlessly between laid-back swing, deep blues and nocturnal lyricism.

An invitation to rediscover the world of Kenny Burrell, one of the most elegant and influential guitarists in jazz history, for an afternoon devoted to groove and tradition — right here, just steps away from the Grand Place.

Franco Piccinno Trio - Hidden Gem
dimanche 22 mars - 20:00
Franco Piccinno (p) ; Basile Rahola (b) ; Gert-Jan Dreessen (dr)

Italian pianist Franco Piccinno is one of those musicians you often discover in jazz clubs — the places where the music truly comes alive. Trained between Italy and several major European scenes, he has developed over the years a personal language rooted in tradition but always open to improvisation and collective interaction.

Very active internationally, he has collaborated with a wide range of musicians and led several projects where the dialogue between players remains central. His playing, fluid and highly responsive to the dynamics of the group, fits naturally into the great tradition of the piano trio, that ideal laboratory where ideas can emerge and evolve in real time.

Surrounded by trusted musical partners, Franco Piccinno offers a music built around standards revisited and original compositions, with improvisation at its core.

A true club jazz experience: direct, sincere, and always ready to take unexpected turns.
