The Rojava revolution represents one of the most concrete and radical experiments in social transformation of our time. In those territories, amidst the devastation wrought by states, religious fundamentalisms, and global capitalism, a political practice was built based on democratic confederalism, community self-government, economic cooperation, social ecology, and coexistence among diverse peoples. This project translated into practice principles deeply rooted in the anarchist tradition: the overthrow of the centrality of the state, the construction of a society based on popular assemblies and grassroots federative structures, and the vision of a land without imposed borders and hierarchical authority.
A central and revolutionary element of this experience is the role of women, expressed through jineoloji, the science of women's liberation that has fundamentally challenged patriarchy, the systems of domination, and the religious structures that for centuries have justified oppression and subordination. The Rojava revolution has demonstrated that there can be no real social transformation without women's liberation and the destruction of religious dogmas, particularly those used to legitimize social control, authoritarianism, and violence.
Today, all of this is under attack. The military offensives targeting Rojava are aimed not only at territorial control, but at the destruction of a political model that demonstrates, in practice, that societies founded on self-determination, mutual aid, and collective freedom are possible.
Our participation in the demonstration on Saturday, February 14th, in Piazza Indipendenza, Rome, starting at 2:30 PM, will be an internationalist, anti-authoritarian, and anti-militarist presence. We do not support opposing states, governments, or geopolitical blocs. We support self-organizing populations who defend their freedom against all forms of imperialism, against all armies, and against all religious ideologies that claim to impose order and submission.
Defending Rojava means defending a revolution that has demonstrated how it is possible to build communities based on solidarity, cooperation, and true freedom. It means affirming that the fight against the state, against patriarchy, against capitalism, and against religious fundamentalism is a global struggle that concerns all of us.
The Rojava revolution does not belong only to the Kurdish people: it belongs to anyone who believes in the possibility of a world without masters, borders, and authority: defending Rojava means defending the social revolution!
