Together, we can turn words into action. If you believe in independent voices and meaningful impact
The recent election results in the UK have confirmed our worst fears. The consistent failures of this Labour government and preceding Conservative administrations have made bigotry and racism palatable, ushering in the far right into mainstream politics.
In England, Reform UK took the lead on seats. In Wales, they came second, and in Scotland, third.
The reaction by Scotland's leadership brings some promise. By refusing to engage in talks with Reform, Scotland's First Minister has sent a clear signal: the rise of the far right does not mean other leaders must default to far-right rhetoric or pander to false narratives.
Meanwhile, the UK's Labour government has doubled down on attacks on migrants, fundamental rights and freedoms. The latest being a new"neighbourhood" policing strategywith roots in brutal colonial and military strategy. When coercion and discrimination become the order of the day, is it any wonder that extreme, fascist views surge in popularity? It is a bleak and stark reminder of why we do the work we do here at Statewatch and of how much more there is still to do.
We hope you will continue to value and support the work we do here at Statewatch. Our hope is only to be able to do more particularly in the light of recent alarming developments. We are grateful if you can offer support.
