WORLD WORLDWIDE EUROPE GERMANY - news journal UPDATE - (en) Germany, FDA-IFA: On the Hunt - Anarchist Group Nuremberg -- Online Lecture - Indigenous Resistance in the Amazon Region (ca, de, it, pt, tr)[machine translation]

Tomorrow, Saturday, May 16, 2026, we'll be joining the lecture online at Project 31 (An den Rampen 31). Come along, it'll be interesting. ---- The house opens at 6 PM ---- The lecture starts at 7 PM ---- The meeting will be held in English ---- About the lecture: ---- Rafael is affiliated with the Amazon Liberation Culture Center (CCLA) and the Brazilian Anarchist Coordination (GAB) and works as a professor and researcher in the field of geography - to gain his perspective. ---- This comrade lives in Santerém and conducts research and works with indigenous peoples in Péra, a state in the Brazilian Amazon.

In his lecture, he will discuss what this collaboration looks like in practice and the struggle of indigenous peoples in the Amazon region in the face of advancing capitalism.

Rafael is connected to the Amazon Liberation Culture Center (CCLA) and the Brazilian Anarchist Coordination (GAB) and works as a professor and researcher in the field of geography - to find his perspective. The region is the most important corridor for Brazil's grain and beef exports, and the expansion of the soy agribusiness, cattle ranching, and mining on Indigenous territories poses an enormous threat. Furthermore, the Brazilian government under Lula is currently planning to privatize several rivers in the Amazon to transform them into export waterways, favoring multinational corporations like the American company Cargill.

As an expression of resistance, Indigenous peoples have occupied Cargill ports, blocked highways, and carried out self-demarcations. That is, they are not waiting for the state to demarcate their territories, but are carrying out the demarcation autonomously.

We will show images from the scene to give you a visual impression. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions and talk with the comrade, as far as the technical capabilities of a video conference allow.

Thanks to the Green Trades Initiative Leipzig for organizing this event, which is part of a series commemorating International Peasants' Day, observed since the 1996 murder of 21 landless workers by military police in Brazil for occupying land.
