Reports suggest that Putin has his eyes on the Donbas and isn’t backing down despite the colossal losses on and off the front.
The reports from Reuters’ sources came as an indirect slap in the face for Trump, who said not long ago that he thinks Putin wants the war to end, though that might also explain the rumors that Trump is eyeing options to help Ukraine break Russian lines. Another metaphorical slap came from Peskov, who also rebuffed his statement that escalation precedes the end of the war and said Russia will just seize more land in response to Ukraine’s intensified refinery strikes. With imported diesel and gasoline, probably.
Otherwise, the Russian refineries kept burning amid daily attacks, and 35 sanctioned tankers were also reportedly hit in the last 96 hours.
In Ukraine, the major news is probably a heated clash between mobilization officials and onlookers in Lviv. Officials have vowed a fair investigation, but Budanov is not thrilled about the whole incident.
We also have more updates on the Monaco bombing. While no evidence points toward HUR involvement, the two suspects are now accusing each other of shooting the woman, with no updates on why the woman was in Monaco to begin with.
