China De race om olifanten te redden

Beste vrienden, Olifanten zijn superslim -- ze zijn, net als apen, bijna net zo intelligent  mensen, maar wij zijn ze letterlijk aan het uitroeien. En olifanten zijn geobsedeerd door hun dood. Ze begrijpen precies  wat er met hen en hun families gebeurt, en zijn zelfs in staat om  olifantenbeenderen te identificeren, waarna ze er uren om moeten  huilen. Stropen is emotioneel zo slopend dat een kudde er wel 20 jaar  over kan doen om te herstellen! Er sterven 100 olifanten per dag -- soms worden ze vanuit helikopters  neergeschoten, en hun gezichten worden er vaak als ze nog in leven  zijn afgesneden met machetes, enkel om ivoren prullaria te produceren.  Bovendien worden deze gewelddadigheden overzien door  georganiseerde criminelen die bijdragen aan de financiering van de  gevaarlijkste terreurgroepen ter wereld. Er is nu echter een reden voor hoop: China heeft onlangs  aangekondigd dat het zijn ivoorindustrie geleidelijk zal stopzetten en  er ligt in elf Amerikaanse staten wetgeving klaar die oproept tot een  verbod op ivoorhandel. Dit is een omslagpunt in de strijd voor deze  majestueuze dieren en wij kunnen ervoor zorgen dat de vraag naar  ivoor overal volledig afneemt door een stortvloed aan campagnes te  financieren in de VS, Thailand en Vietnam om zo overal ter wereld de grootste ivoormarkten uit te roeien. China : Chinees arbeidersparadijs wordt robotparadijs

China heeft het voorbije jaar 36.560 industriële robots gekocht. Daarmee vertegenwoordigde het land ongeveer één vijfde van alle robot-aankopen ter wereld. Dat blijkt uit cijfers van de International Federation of Robotics (IFR). Voor de eerste keer in de geschiedenis was China het voorbije jaar de belangrijkste klant van wereldwijde robot-producenten, waardoor het technologisch verfijnde Japan met de aankoop van 26.015 exemplaren niet langer de internationale rangschikking aanvoerde.

De cijfers tonen aan dat China, in het verleden de belangrijkste leverancier van goedkope handenarbeid ter wereld, steeds meer voor een automatisering kiest.

“Tegenover het jaar voordien nam de Chinese aankoop van industriële robots met bijna 60 procent toe,” geeft Tanya Powley, correspondent industrie van de Britse zakenkrant Financial Times, aan. “Het land is echter verplicht om voor automatisering te kiezen, aangezien de stijgende arbeidskosten en de toenemende concurrentie van opkomende economieën de Chinese ondernemingen heeft verplicht om zich steeds verder toe te spitsen op de inzet van technologie.”

Volgens cijfers van de International Federation of Robotics hebben de investeringen in robots in China de voorbije vijf jaar een gemiddelde stijging met 36 procent laten optekenen.

“China kent een bijzonder snelgroeiende robotmarkt,” benadrukt Per Vegard Nerseth, hoofd robotica bij de Zwitserse producent ABB Group. “Over enkele jaren zal de robotmarkt in China de andere landen ver achter zich hebben gelaten. Het land beschikt nog over een bijzonder groot groeipotentieel."

Twee jaar geleden telde China slechts drieëntwintig robots voor elke tienduizend industriële werknemers, tegenover 396 geautomatiseerde machines voor eenzelfde groep medewerkers in Zuid-Korea. De Chinese groei wordt vooral gestuwd door grote multinationele ondernemingen. De tendens wordt geleid door onder meer de autosector, die in China ongeveer 60 procent van de vraag naar robots vertegenwoordigt.

Volgens Arturo Baroncelli, president van de International Federation of Robotics, zal vooral de uitbreiding naar andere industrieën buiten de productie van auto’s en semiconductoren, de verdere groei van de Chinese robotmarkt ondersteunen. Drie jaar geleden kondigde Foxconn, Chinees leverancier van onder meer Apple, al aan een leger van één miljoen robots te zullen bouwen om repetitieve taken van werknemers over te nemen.

Pilar Dieter, verantwoordelijke voor de regio Asia-Pacific bij management-consulent Solidiance, zegt dat de meeste Chinese bedrijven weliswaar nog altijd liever goedkope arbeidskrachten inzettendan te investeren in dure machines, maar door de technologische evoluties gedwongen worden robots in te zetten.

Japan blijft met meer dan 310.000 geïnstalleerde exemplaren twee jaar geleden nog altijd wereldwijd marktleider in industriële robots. De Verenigde Staten staan op de tweede plaats met 168.000 robots, gevolgd door China met 96.000 eenheden. De Verenigde Staten stonden vorig jaar met 23.679 aangekochte exemplaren internationaal op een derde plaats. (mah)
