Brazil, 48 years for the Military Coup: Memory, Truth and Justice! For it will never happens again!

Result of a conspiracy involving business sectors, the mainstream press, conservative
religious and military sectors, civil-military dictatorship that began in April 1964
fulfilled the objective of economic and political elites of our country to silence the
struggles of workers that had been developing vigorously in rural and urban areas,
scheduling a series of structural reforms in order to ensure greater rights and better
living conditions for the oppressed. Among these reform, land reform occupied a prominent
place, drawing the ire of privileged. --- The dictatorship that lasted until 1985, marked
a period where the Brazilian State set up an entire terrorist apparatus in order to
persecute, imprison, torture, kidnapping, murder and even disappear with the bodies of
several members who dared to fight against social ills, and more specifically, against the
dictatorship.

A generation of militant peasants, trade unionists, students, artists and
intellectuals were slain by the repression that, in turn, had a support
direct civilians from many sectors of the political and economic elites, who
benefited from the systematic persecution of fighters.

After 48 years of this sad page in our history we feel the strong presence of
his legacy in our country. Even today we have no exact explanation of most
events of the period; militants following missing without ever having had
news about his whereabouts and what conditions were murdered; torturers
follow unpunished and enjoying numerous privileges, such as pension millionaires,
presence in key positions in companies and state and including being
honored with their names on streets, schools, parks, etc..

This impunity, and worse, this tribute to dictators causes little or nothing is
done to end once and for all with the remnants of the dictatorship in our
everyday life. We can see it in the systematic murders young poor black
in the peripheries, the torture that goes in, even in larger scale, in
police stations and the criminalization and repression of social movements (Corumbiara
Eldorado dos Caraj?s, Felizburgo, Real Dream, Pinheirinho Eltom Brum, just to mention
a few).

There is a little over one month the Brazilian government finally appointed a "Commission of
Truth "in order to clarify these tragic events. Only now
starts a process, still shy and hesitant, to clarify the events,
that after more than two decades of transition agreed with the executioners of
dictatorship, which secured a major aberrations in our country: a
self-amnesty for those responsible for state terrorism.

The Truth Commission, in turn, presents not only several limitations, such as
does not demand justice for the heinous crimes committed by those impostors
who oppressed the country since the stick-to-rack, but also presents unacceptable
hesitation, as the proposal advocated by some of its members to investigate the
"Crimes committed by the left" during this period and the extension of the period to be
investigated, which goes from 1948 to 1988.

Besides resisting state terrorism, those who in an act of dignity
joined the armed struggle were mostly arrested, tried in the courts of
exception, tortured, murdered and many have disappeared. Want to equate them to
