This second half has been filled with countless attempts and efforts by mobilizing
segments of the popular movement and student. Without a doubt, are the demands of the high
school students and those most strongly been felt trying to continue the process
experienced last year, maintaining some degree its massiveness, cover and legitimacy. But
also become important as the processes that are occurring in the province of Arauco, which
although they have achieved so far foothold at all, if they realize a degree of
organization that has already been experienced elsewhere in the country, as Magellan,
Calama and Aysen. ---- Against this background, the government's response was not novel;
repression at all levels. We have seen violent evictions, hard days of repression in
demonstrations, marches ban, allegations of torture in detention, as well as sexual
harassment, mainly secondary students.
Alongside its commitment repressive, the government has opted for the division of the
student movement, particularly to secondary organizations and CONES ACES. By betting
delegitimizing with more radical leaders, which is evident in the case of a suspect ACES
and nod toward a more moderate alternative, the government has begun to play his cards to
weaken the secondary motion.
Moreover, there have been elections Directory Confederation of Workers (CUT), the
principal body weakened Chilean trade unionism. Some items attract attention in this
process. First were the media choices of the past 10 years, and not only by the importance

agreement between the leaders of the PS and PC.
This stage of mobilization that have not yet accumulated the necessary strength, but that
does not seem to be easy prey to fear, repression and other government desarticuladores
attempts, going little by little framing an election approaching. In less than two months
from the publication of this issue of Solidarity, municipal elections will be held and no
doubt will be crossed by several ways to read the special moment in the country. We will
have a right to raise his head trying social legitimacy at all costs, betting order, to
the uncompromising defense of the model and showing in any way the supposed benefits it
would provide social majorities. We will also see an opposition "extended" with the PC,
without even blushing presented as mobilizing processes themselves all the Chilean people,
particularly the student movement. And finally, make irruption other minority forces,
stationed on the left of the PC, which will raise a bet itself in building community
power, always in the framework of possibility that the existing institutional grants.
No easy task for the movement. There can be no rest or anxiety in these times. We believe
they are priority joint spaces and construction program being built from the grassroots

the people themselves and raise flags that are committed to building popular power.
