Consequences of a rescue mission – the case „Cap Anamur“ and the refugee catastrophe at Europe’s borders
10 years after the rescue ship “Cap Anamur” saved 37 Africans in front of the Italian coast from capsizing, with the captain and crew members being accused of human trafficking and the refugees being deported back to their countries, we want to discuss the development in the EU’s dealing with refugees in the Mediterranean – and focus on changes that need to be made urgently. We invite you to join the discussion with Elias Bierdel, member of the rescue ship “Cap Anamur” and founder of borderline-europe, Aminu Munkaila, one of the rescued refugees, and Karl Kopp, speaker from Pro Asyl on European issues.
Time: Wednesday, June 18, 7pm
Location: Robert-Havemann-Saal, Haus der Demokratie und Menschenrechte, Greifswalderstr. 4, 10405 Berlin
