U.S. Attorney General Eric HolderU.S. Attorney General Eric Holder on Tuesday took aim at the Boy Scouts of America, saying it's refusal to allow gay and lesbian adults to serve as scout leaders "perpetuates the worst kind of stereotypes." In remarks at an event hosted by Lambda Legal, Holder called the ban "a relic of an age of prejudice and insufficient understanding."

Judge puts W.Va. gay marriage suit on hold pending outcome of Va. case

West-VirginiaCHARLESTON, W.Va. — A federal judge has put a lawsuit challenging West Virginia’s ban on same-sex marriage on hold until a federal appeals court decides a similar Virginia case. U.S. District Judge Robert C. Chambers entered an order Tuesday that stayed the case until the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals decides a case from Virginia.

New coalition launching to build support for marriage equality in Indiana

Hoosiers-UniteINDIANAPOLIS -- Same-sex marriage supporters in Indiana are forming Hoosiers Unite for Marriage, a coalition to build support for their cause following high-profile fights over the issue at the Statehouse and in the courts. The ACLU of Indiana will be part of the coalition along with Liberty Indiana and the national group Freedom to Marry.

N.Y. state assembly passes gender expression non-discrimination act, again

New York state capitol in AlbanyALBANY, N.Y. -- The New York State Assembly on Tuesday again approved the Gender Expression Non-Discrimination Act (GENDA), a bill to prohibit discrimination on the basis of gender identity and expression. It is the seventh time the measure has passed in the Assembly, but has never come to a vote on the floor of the State Senate.

The officer, whose name is being withheld, was put on leave last week after police said he refused to provide traffic control at Sunday's parade.

Confusion in Wis. as appeals court mistakenly releases, then vacates order

WisconsinMADISON, Wis. -- The confusion over same-sex marriages in Wisconsin is getting thicker. On Tuesday, the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals released an order saying it appears it lacks jurisdiction because Crabb isn't done with the case. But the court later erased the order, saying it was mistakenly released.

Courtesy: Lambda LegalLambda Legal filed a complaint Tuesday in the Washington, D.C., Office of Human Rights on behalf of a transgender woman who was given a restaurant receipt with an anti-LGBT slur printed on it while socializing with friends at a local hookah bar. According to the complaint, the words "GAY BITCHES" were printed in place of the customer's name.

Hundreds of same-sex couples have wed in Wisconsin since Friday, when U.S. District Judge Barbara Crabb declared the state's gay marriage ban unconstitutional.

Report: Marriage equality would add $62 million, new jobs to Ariz. economy

ArizonaExtending marriage to same-sex couples in Arizona would generate an estimated $61.9 million in spending to the state’s economy and generate over 500 new jobs over three years, according to a new study. Spending related to same-sex couples’ wedding ceremonies and celebrations could generate up to 517 full- and part-time jobs in the state.

Fenton-MIFENTON, Mich. -- The Fenton City Council has approved an ordinance that bans discrimination against people based on their sexual orientation or gender identity. The ordinance allows the city manager to investigate and attempt to come to an agreement "terminating discrimination or reverse the effects of past discrimination."
