Document on the campaign of support for / to the persecuted / the policy / ies for social 
crimes in Brazil in particular with regard to the mobilizations of June 2013 against the 
increase in the price of the ticket, then continue with the mobilizations against the Fifa 
World Cup 2014 and with various trade union struggles and in the favelas. The document is 
based on the reworking of some press campaign # EuApoioOs23 drawn up by the Commission of 
Parents and Relatives of Political Prisoners and Persecuted - Rio de Janeiro. ---- 
Campaign fundraising and support for the struggles in Brazil ---- In Rio de Janeiro the 
fight began in the days of June 2013 is not over: 2014 was marked by political persecution 
comparable to that experienced during the military regime began in 1964. The 2013 will be 
remembered for the events started in protest of the ocean ' increase in tickets for 
transportation, then amplificatesi in response to police violence, the harsh living 
conditions in the favelas and the mega-projects which benefit the few usual suspects. 
During the demonstrations there have been numerous arbitrary arrests of which the most 
striking was the case in October 2014 when hundreds of people were arrested after they had 
sitting on the steps of City Hall of Rio de Janeiro at the end of a rally following a 
teachers' strike .

In June 2014, a year after the historic mobilizations that involved all of Brazil, began a 
persecution absurd implemented through interception, investigation and surveillance, 
breaking banking secrecy to gain access to sensitive information, coercive use of force by 
law enforcement officials 'order to obtain evidence, seizure of electronic equipment and, 
on the eve of the final of the world cup, the arrest of 30 activists.

The arrests of 12 July 2014 (just before the World Cup final of FIFA) marked the beginning 
of a process heavy. The prosecutor of Rio de Janeiro has accused 23 people of having 
formed an armed gang when some / s of them even knew each other and did not take part in

neighborhoods. In this scenario, the struggle of 23 extends, as it has been from the start 
and as always will be, in a fight for the rights of all citizens.

In response to this persecution and criminalization of activists did the Commission of 
Parents and Relatives of Political Prisoners and Persecuted of Rio de Janeiro.

Although 23 are assisted by volunteer lawyers, the whole process generates a series of 
material costs for copying and scanning of all the material of the case, which has more

rights, of all those who believe in the need for change in our society. Moreover, the 
defense of the 23 means to prevent the judiciary from Rio de Janeiro to continue to 
violate their own laws, means supporting the freedom of expression, freedom of expression, 
freedom of press, freedom of association. The campaign is not limited to the 23 accused in 
this absurd process of criminalization. It extends to the criminalization of all rights 
struggles of the people. Therefore it is of paramount importance. To defend the rights of
