Dear friends,
All healthcare is not the same in the United States, especially for Native women. Many Native American and Alaska Native women receive their care from Indian Health Service (IHS), a federal agency responsible for providing Native American health care.
For these women, this can mean not having access to basic post-rape care. That’s because IHS facilities don’t always follow their own guidelines for post-rape care; they might not even have rape kits available. This leaves many Native women without adequate care and justice. Take action now and pressure Indian Health Service to guarantee Native women’s equal access to health care after a sexual assault. Native American and Alaska Native women are over two times more likely to be raped than non-Native women in the United States. This human rights abuse is largely going unnoticed and undocumented within the federal healthcare system. Luc, stand with me and advocate for Native women now by ensuring they receive adequate and equal care from Indian Health Service. All Native women have the right to be safe and free from violence. These women also have the right to adequate health care and the right to justice. Stand in solidarity with Native women now and ask Indian Health Service for adequate health care after sexual assault. | ||
