Well, this is what’s really happening – abuse is running rampant on Twitter, making it a toxic place, particularly for women. And when Twitter fails to follow its own rules on abuse, it can drive women right off the platform. Take action now: Ask Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey to tackle abuse on the platform. Twitter has become a conduit and megaphone for powerful movements like #MeToo and #TimesUp – movements designed to defend women’s freedoms. Twitter wants to be a part of this, publicly announcing that it “stands with women to make their voices heard”. And yet, women’s freedom to express themselves is routinely silenced by toxic abuse on the platform. We agree that everyone should have “the power to create and share ideas and information,”as is part of Twitter’s mission. Yet women have been targeted and harassed into silence on Twitter’s watch for years. And it’s still happening. If you agree that women deserve to have their voices heard, take action with us today. Twitter has its own policies that explicitly say violence and abuse against women have no place on the platform. And while Twitter says it’s trying to tackle the abuse, it just isn’t doing enough.
