Raqqa has been destroyed

Demand Accountability for the Destruction in Raqqa

Shamsa Badran Bint Mustafa, 40, died with her husband and five children.

Dear friends,
Over the past year the US-led coalition in Syria has killed entire families in Raqqa in their attempts to dislodge the armed group calling itself Islamic State from the city. Those attempts reduced the city to rubble through a prolonged campaign of aerial bombardment, that, despite the coalition’s claims to the contrary, led to widespread death and destruction.

Demand the Trump administration take action now & recognize and respond to the scale of destruction in Raqqa.
“We thought the forces who came to evict Daesh [Islamic State] would know their business and would target Daesh and leave the civilians alone. We were naïve. By the time we had realised how dangerous it had become everywhere, it was too late; we were trapped.” - Rasha Badran, resident of Raqqa who, with her husband, lost their entire family, including their only one-year-old girl Tulip, whose tiny body they buried near a tree before fleeing the city
Amnesty International researchers recently visited the war-torn city of Raqqa, and what they found is unlike anything else they’ve seen in decades of war. Entire communities had been wiped out by the coalition, laid low by its alleged “precision” air campaign.

We must demand that the U.S-led Coalition recognize the scale of civilian lives lost in Raqqa, properly investigate airstrikes that killed civilians, publish all their findings, and provide reparation for the victims.

Luc, we need your help to reduce the risk of repeating widespread violations of international human rights and humanitarian law. Demand Secretary of Defense James Mattis take action today and investigate the scale of destruction caused by the coalition’s campaign in Raqqa.
