That's what one onlooker asked when she saw a U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) officer shoot and kill 20-year-old Claudia Patricia Gómez Gonzáles in cold blood. Claudia was with a group of suspected undocumented immigrants in Rio Bravo, Texas. She had traveled to the U.S. from Guatemala to find a job and raise money to continue her education. According to her family, she had recently graduated from a forensic accounting program, but they were unable to help her continue to study due to their financial situation. The CBP agent who took her life claims that the suspects refused to get on the ground and instead rushed towards him. Despite the fact that the immigrants were completely unarmed, the CBP agent chose to use lethal force, shooting Claudia in the head. Murder is not a way to address undocumented immigration.
