After a busy 2017-2018 season with many concerts in trio, the studio recording of our album, the creation of two theater plays (for which I composed the music and played live) as well as promising gigs with my new quintet (feat. Romain Pilon andNicolas Kummert), the time has come to announce what I'm up to for the upcoming season 2018-2019...

Since we got together as a new trio in April 2017, bass playerAlex Gilson, drummer Jean-Baptiste Pinet and I have given around 30 concerts in Belgium, France and Luxembourg, presenting a mix of my compositions, new arrangements of all-time pop/rock songs and jazz standards with an always renewed enthusiasm.

Last November, we entered the famous Jet Studio to record some new tracks for an album. But, as we love to play live and get the energy from an audience, we decided to complete the recording with some live recorded pieces! That unique concert will take place in Brussels (Cellule 133a) on September 29. THIS IS THE ONE YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS... Here is the event (blue means you can click!)

Be sure to book your seat!

Beside that show, we'll be playing all around Belgium in very different contexts for the next weeks. We'll start on September 8 inCafé Beguin, Brussels, a very cool place right in the center of the capital, good world kitchen, great atmosphere, stunning cocktails ! On the next day (September 9), change of mood as we'll be playing in the intimacy of a living room, in the historical quarter of Le Sablon. Booking is required for this concert organized by Le Cercle d'Egmont: cercledegmont@outlook.com.

Before our live recording, on September 28, we'll be in the charming jazz club 27b Flat, in Bruges. After which, on September 29 (in case you read too fast), we'll record part of our album in front of a live audience at Cellule 133a in Brussels.

The week after that, on October 3, it's time for us to play in one of my favorite jazz clubs, the Jacques Pelzer's Jazz Club in Liège. To finish up this first run of concerts, back to Brussels, in the green quarter of Uccle to play for Jazz à Uccle, an event set up byJazz4you

Last year, my mother and absolute reference in the field of theater with performing objects, Agnès Limbos, asked me to compose and play live music for two of her new pieces. We created both acts last season and we are touring since then. This season, we'll be performing around the world with a play for (and by) little children (from 10 months), devoted to Shakespeare's dramas in... old English!

Well... That's not all. The trio will play some winter gigs and the album release is planned at the end of March on German labelNeuklang Record!

SAVE THE DATE for the RELEASE PARTY: APRIL 4 in Theatre Marni

After nice concerts last June, my new quintet will certainly perform again this season, a new album will be out in 2020...

Besides my activities as a working musician, I'm also the new chairman ad interim of the association for the promotion of Belgian Jazz Les Lundis d'HortenseHopefully, I'll be up to the task and work to make Belgian jazz musicians more and more visible.

In a very different field, I turn my passion for cooking into a Facebook page where I post some of my own vegan recipes... Have a look: Ve Jo Tarian (for now, only in French, but to be translated sooner... or later!)

And... That's it for now! Don't forget to like my professionalFacebook page to get fresh day to day updates... and see you soon!

Cheers,

Joachim Caffonnette
