Dear friends,
An African elephant is killed for its ivory every 15 minutes. At this rate, elephants could become extinct within our lifetime. We must put an end to legal trophy hunting and illegal poaching. One of the most important steps towards doing that is making it impossible to get ivory and other trophies out of Africa.
After Cecil the lion was slaughtered, South African Airways joined the worldwide embargo on transporting legally hunted trophies last year, but lifted the ban just three months later. Allowing the shipment of ivory is the same as providing a getaway vehicle for the theft of African wildlife. Whether the hunt is legal or illegal — the end result is the same.
There are estimated to be only 400,000 elephants left in Africa. Together we can protect these amazing creatures. Together we can make the airlines value elephants' lives over trophy hunters' money. Together we can tweet to #KeepElephantsWild.
Thank you,

Lacey K.

P.S. Ending the decimation of elephants requires us to stop the flow of their body parts for money. Send a tweet now to join us in asking South African Airways to ban the transport of ivory.
