Hello,
My name is Susan and I'm a lesbian and a black woman from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Brazil's new president, Jair Bolsonaro, is a very intolerant man. When asked how he would react if one of his sons dated a black woman, he said, "I will not discuss that kind of promiscuity... That's not a risk I face as my sons were very well raised."
Our president has empowered people who think like him to attack anyone for being different. Because of this rising racism and homophobia, it's been very hard to find work. So I decided to follow my passion, take a huge risk, and launch my own business instead.
I design eco-friendly jewelry for all different ages, genders, and income levels because I believe that everyone has a right to feel beautiful and special.
But amidst all the discrimination and fear, I can't find any local investors to support my business. That's why I'm reaching out to you today.
Coming up with a vision and plan for my own business has been so empowering. I am so proud of where I've come from and what I've accomplished.
I know that this business can do really well! My plan is to have a formal office and launch an online store in the next 3 years.
Your donation will help me promote my business on social media, pay for legal fees for formal registration, launch and expand my online store, and participate in fashion fairs and exhibits.
I also want to empower other black and LGBT+ people in my community by teaching classes on everything I've learned so far, from jewelry design and art to small business skills.
Thanks for standing with LGBT+ Brazilians!
