We're having a meeting for people interested in getting involved in anarchist organising
in London on 6th April 2019, 4-6pm at Freedom Bookshop, 84b Whitechapel High Street

Things we do: run a monthly anarchist reading group, run a film night, help publish
Organise magazine, help publish and distro Rebel City newspaper, have socials, have
fundraisers (remember that awesome gig we did in Jan with Inner terrestrials?), publish
pamphlets, launch environmental initiatives (Green anticapitalist front), go on demos as a
group.

Thousands of school pupils packed into Dublin City centre 15th March to protest the
ongoing inaction at looming Climate disaster. While many of may not see the worst
consequences of climate change in our lifetimes this generation will certainly witness the
start of the really bad times unless action is taken in the next decade to slow and then
reverse the release of Climatre Change gases. ---- Like many, we  were delighted and
encouraged to see so many school students marching last Friday for action against Climate
Change. One of those was Alice, who sent us her eye-witness report of the event. ---- "On
the sunny morning of March 15th 2019 myself and almost everyone I knew, skipped school,
grabbed their homemade signs and gathered in the city centre to protest the ever-growing
threat of climate change.

We marched from St Stephens Green down to the Dáil, where there were speeches and chants.
The crowd was mostly made up of secondary school students between the ages of 13 and 17, a
good few college students and some primary school classes who had come as a group with
their teachers. Almost everyone there held signs with all kinds of slogans, but most were
funny or used puns (as seen below). The atmosphere and energy the whole time was really,
really good- I could tell we were all actively trying to make a change not just using it
as an excuse for a day off, and most people seemed really passionate and concerned.

The only downside was the speeches were almost inaudible due to the speaker set up but
most people just spoke about their concerns as well as hopes for the future, and tried to
emphasise just how important it is we make a change, and that that change happens (or at
least starts) right now. I was glad I went and relieved to see so many people supporting
the movement because personally I don't think anyone realises just how bad the situation
is, no one is scared yet. I believe we can actually make a difference and raise a lot of
awareness if we keep moving forward with this and be consistent in our efforts."

The new rates for the National Minimum Wage and the National Living Wage from April 2019
are set out below: ---- £8.21 per hour for ages 25 and over ---- £7.70 per hour for ages
21 to 24 ---- £6.15 per hour for ages 18 to 20 ---- £4.35 per hour for those under 18 ----
£3.90 per hour for apprentices. ---- For your boss to pay the apprenticeship rate there
must be a genuine apprenticeship agreement in place. This agreement must be based on
training being the main purpose of the agreement, with working being secondary. ---- The
apprenticeship rate only applies to apprentices aged: ---- those under 19 ---- those 19 or
over, who are in the first year of their apprenticeship. ---- Apprentices aged 19 or over
in their second year of apprenticeship must receive the National Minimum Wage or National
Living Wage Rate their age entitles them too.

It is important to remember that, although the new rates come in on April 1st 2019, this
does not mean that your rate of pay will increase from that date. The new rates apply to
the next pay reference period that begins on or after April 1st. One way of calculating
this is to use the date you get paid. For example, if you get paid on April 15th each
month, the new rate of pay will apply to all hours worked from April 16th onwards. This
does mean that those who get paid towards the end of April miss out, in that they have to
wait longer, in some cases nearly a month, before they get the pay increase.

Most workers are entitled to either the National Minimum or National Living Wage,
including pieceworkers, home workers, agency workers, commission workers, part-time
workers and casual workers.  Under certain circumstances interns are also entitled to be
paid the National Minimum or National Living Wage.

The following people are not entitled to the National Minimum or National Living Wage
under current Government rules:

those who are genuinely self-employed
volunteers or voluntary workers
company directors
members of the armed forces
family members, or people who live in the family home of the employer, who undertake
household tasks
work experience students, depending on the length of their placement.

The minimum wage should be paid from the moment you start work and should be paid even if
you work only for a few hours or you are the only person employed.

Tips, gratuities, service charges and cover charges do not count towards National Minimum
or Living Wage. This is regardless of whether they are paid through your payroll or are
given directly to workers by customers or a troncmaster. For example, if you work as a
waiter and receive tips, your boss must pay you the minimum or living wage on top of any
money you receive as tips.

Enhanced rates of pay for working overtime, weekends, bank holidays, unsocial hours London
weighting etc. do not count towards the National Minimum or National Living Wage and, as
such, should not be included when calculating your pay.

Deductions from your pay, or payments made to you, for items or expenses that are
connected with the job do not count when calculating your minimum or living wage rate.
This could include, for example, travel expenses or safety clothing, uniforms, tools or
other equipment needed for the job.

Remember, the National Minimum Wage and the National Living Wage rates remain pathetically
low. The only thing the guaranteed National Minimum Wage and the National Living Wage
actually guarantee, is that those forced to live off them will be trapped in a life of
permanent poverty. It is important therefore that the National Minimum Wage and the
National Living Wage are seen for what they are, the absolute least amount your employer
has to pay you. Therefore, do not simply accept the pitifully low pay set by the
government; instead, organise in order to force your boss to increase your pay and improve
your conditions.

Contact SolFed for advice about how to go about organising in your workplace or if you
wish to attend a SolFed Workplace Organiser Training Course.

The Anarchist International lives and is preparing for another congress - a brief report
from a preparatory meeting in France ---- Spring came and the first meeting of delegates
of foreign secretariats of member groups of the International Anarchist Federation (IFA),
which took place in France, namely Saint-Denis. This time the Czech delegation arrived
early, so after a walk around the local sights and the subsequent slightly confused search
for a local infoshop where the meeting took place, they could help with the preparations.
Other friends started to come to the evening, we cooked dinner together and welcomed
ourselves. ---- The main meeting took place the next day. They met with representatives of
federations from Germany, Great Britain, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, the Balkans,
France and the Czech Republic. In addition to the classic organizational issues, such as
finance or the first issue of the International magazine, this time we mainly focused on
preparing the anarchist congress to be held in the summer. Almost everything that was
needed was resolved, so just fine-tune the details. Despite the fact that the meetings
were productive and we had a lot to do, we all watched the development of the big Yellow
Vests demonstration, which we hate to miss.

In the evening we went to see the concert at the other end of the city. She played mostly
electronic music and was attended by several hundred people mainly from anarchist circles.
From time to time, the chant of "Tout le monde deteste la shelf!" Sprang up in response
to the escalating police violence and repression of the Yellow Vest movement.

On Sunday, we again devoted ourselves to congress and briefly to the website. But since
most people had to leave, they only met in the morning. Then we went on a tour of
anarchist radio and then local businesses. Even the Czech Federation had to go out in the
evening, so when we said goodbye we pressed a tear and set off for a long journey home.

In conclusion, we would like to thank the French friends who accommodated us, prepared us
for a luxurious meal and showed us a lot of interesting corners of Paris. We were happy to
see all the others and look forward to the next meeting.

The exacerbation of the capitalist overaccumulation crisis has, among other things,
generated several belligerent zones, which are scattered across various lengths and widths
of the globe (see Ukraine, the Middle East, Central and North Africa) surrounding the
capitalist centers. Capitalist barbarism does not leave the sun in fate for the poor and
the devoted. Sovereignty is now shaping the conditions by which it is the grave sort of
who will survive and who will not. The transition from social-democratic management of
social recession, through the use of loan money and the use of the financial sphere, in
fierce neo-liberalism and fiscal surveillance is in line with the aggressive
reconstruction of capital at a global level when demanding the demands of the now
worsening market economy. Similarly, the state apparatus proceeds to emergency measures
and suppression of the internal enemy, while the Western metropolises are militarized
using as a pretext the migratory flows and the campaign against terrorism.

The irreconcilable internal contradictions of capitalism, which once again contributed to
the explosion of a structural crisis, bring to the forefront one of the strong papers that
the ruling class is supposed to throw in such cases. This paper is war, as it is a way out
of capital from the capitalist crisis, but also a golden opportunity for the enrichment of
the armaments industry. The price, of course, is to pay for it with the reckless, both in
their pocket and in their blood, where they are oppressed and exploited. War is an
advantageous solution to capital when it is in deadlock. It can open up new markets, new
business opportunities through the insatiable exploitation of the raw materials and the
working hands of the areas in the eye of the cyclone. Also, after a period of generalized
disaster, which is destroying both parts of the fixed (production) and the variable
(labor) workers, there is always a period of developmental capital reconstruction, even if
it is based on debris and corpses. As mentioned above, of course, war is an ongoing
reality at the moment. However, it is carried out by representatives and at least has not
hit the door of the "West". war is an ongoing reality right now. However, it is carried
out by representatives and at least has not hit the door of the "West". war is an ongoing
reality right now. However, it is carried out by representatives and at least has not hit
the door of the "West".

Greece is second in the ranking of the NATO countries with the largest military
expenditure in proportion to their GNP. Every year, Greece's military spending is
estimated at 2.4% of its GDP (surpassing the 2% limit set by the Alliance at its 2006
summit), which translates to $ 4.5 billion. Armaments costs are at the top of the state
budget's priorities, at a time when the social majority is being exterminated by the
austerity policies dictated by the memorandums. Indeed, the memorandum commitments
stipulate that the country's international economic administration will keep at least
until 2060.

As a member of NATO and as an organic part of the chariot of Euro-Atlantic imperialism,
the role of the overseer (the second after Israel) of the respective interests in the
eastern Mediterranean and the Balkans has been indicated in the Greek state. However, this
means that, albeit in a subsidiary way, the Greek state will be involved, to the extent
that it belongs, to the geopolitical rivalries and warfare involving its patrons. It is
certain, however, that the domestic bourgeoisie will seek to get as much as possible from
the pie shared in its neighborhood. At the moment, local plutocracy seeks to promote
Greece as an energy hub in the Eastern Mediterranean and a gas and electricity transit
channel in the European Union. This translates the alliance between Greece, Cyprus, Israel
and Egypt, as apart from the military alliances and exercises defined by this
transnational agreement, as well as the US recommendations. and NATO, which are actually
behind it, the construction of the East Med gas pipeline and the Euro-Asia Interconnector
to transport electricity to the countries of the European Union.

NATO plans seek to "plant" military bases in the Greek territory, preparing for the
upgrading of conflicts in the Middle East and the Eastern Mediterranean. At the same time,
the militarization of the NATO countries is also a demonstration of power in order to tear
the teeth to the Russian agent, who is the main enemy of the United States. from the BRICS
axis (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa). In this context, the Prespa Agreement
with which the neighboring country became a NATO member joined the US the latter to gain
an advantage in the wider Balkan region against Russian imperialism. The instability of US
relations Turkey (about a year ago, Turkey announced that Incirlik's base would no longer
serve NATO), is upgrading Greece's geostrategic importance for NATO, because NATO is now
called upon to find new points for its military activities. The Andravida airbase (which
took place in March 2018 in the war) and Araxos (there is a possibility of nuclear
resettlement) will be upgraded. In Larissa there is a base with drones, while in
Alexandroupolis is planned the construction of a helicopter base. For Syros, the NATO
design stipulates that the port of Ermoupolis should be transformed into a strategic point
where the US Navy ships will be repaired and refitted. In an earlier visit to Greece, US
Ambassador Jeffrey Paith said that shipyards in Neorion of Syros need to be purchased by a
company belonging to a NATO member state, which is why there is also interest from the
USA. At the same time, discussions are taking place the rebuilding of the port of
Ermoupolis, so that large ships of the armed forces of the United States, as well as the
port of Thessaloniki, can be tethered. Indeed, the US ambassador in a recent visit to the
city port has checked the possibility of harbor facilities to serve the US troops.
Finally, the Ministry of National Defense addressed a proposal to the US Embassy to
promote the construction of a large heliport on a flat island near Kalymnos, which will
serve the parking and supply of American helicopters. It is now clear in the most obvious
way that the Greek state provides generous editing to the suggestions dictated by US
military plans. and NATO, with the country becoming the base of the military operations of
Euro-Atlantic imperialism.

The oppressed and exploited, on whatever side of the map we are, do not have to divide
anything between us. We must perceive the community of our class interests and on this
basis organize our counter-attack against those who oppress us and live by our labor. We
are not going to fight for the interests of local and international bosses, we will not
fight for any homeland, nor turn arms barrels to the working class of other countries,
from which they try to divide us with every artificial means the masters, employing every
available solvent of class consciousness (eg nation, border, religion).

In the event of war, the world proletariat will be what will be forced to initiate the war
machines of the capitalists by paying the price with the lives of people in our class. The
clouds of a war of widespread warfare seem to be thickening and the involvement of the
Greek state in NATO's military plans is deepening more and more. In an earlier bombing of
Damascus and Homs by British Air Force, France and the US Air Force, a ship sailed from
Souda's base and airfreight aircraft took off from the same base.

Today, it is necessary to form an anti-war movement on the basis of internationalist,
class solidarity. Part of this framework is the army's sabotage, as well as the refusal of
proletarians to serve in the ranks of the armed forces. Based on the Greek reality, this
movement must have a clear anti-NATO character, but it does not fall into the trap of
supporting imperialist forces that are considered "less damaging" on the grounds that they
are a rival awe to US imperialism. In order not to flatter us, therefore, a global warfare
triggered by the needs of the capitalists, we must now and now change the correlations of
power in the ensuing social and class conflict. Our response to the war-wreck prepared by
global state and capitalist barbarism must be the global social revolution with the aim of
releasing the subordinate layers from the slumber of state power and the capitalist
exploitation of human labor. In the next crucial shift in class struggle, we must have set
up our revolutionary infrastructures so that we can cast on the terms of historical
realization, the creative paper of anarchism, the social organization on the foundations
of libertarian communism.

Mark in your calendar | The 20th anniversary of the Montreal Anarchist Book Fair! ----
Saturday, 25th, and Sunday, May 26th, 2019 - 10am to 5pm ---- What will happen at the
Montreal Anarchist Book Fair? ---- The Anarchist Book Fair, which will take place on
Saturday, May 25, and Sunday, May 26, in two places located one in front of the other:
---- (i) at the Georges-Vanier Cultural Center (CCGV), Rue Workman, 2450; ---- ii) at
CÉDA, Delisle Street, 2515, a community center for adult education in southwest Montreal,
in front of the CCGV. Both places are two minutes from the Lionel-Groulx subway station.
---- In the main auditoriums, CCGV and CÉDA, there will be more than 100 vendors,
publishers and groups from all over Montreal, Quebec, North America and elsewhere to share
their publications and materials, most of which are virtually impossible to find in mass
magazines. There is enough free material and a good part will be published especially for
the Free Fair.

Note:  this year the exhibition tables will take place on the two days, May 25 and 26, as
well as workshops, films and works of art.

During the Book Fair, there will be an Anarchist Cinema room where alternative films and
documentaries will be designed, and the walls of the Fair will be covered with art by
anti-authoritarian artists for the exhibition of 'Art and Anarchy'.

There will be a free crèche and also at the Book Fair, there will be a program for
children: The Children's Zone! Children and parents are welcome and encouraged to attend.

For everyone there will be a space to "relax". This space was developed due to the fact
that the Fair will be very intense and with many attractions for various reasons. The idea
is to offer a space apart from the main activities of the Fair, to give a chance, without
feeling forced to leave the Fair to give this respite.

Also, there will be workshops introducing anarchism to those who are learning. And to
those who are interested, there will be presentations and anarchist debates that will
address more issues related to anarchism in a deeper way.

Throughout the Book Fair, do not hesitate to ask questions about anarchist ideas and
practices to the people who will be at the tables or those who will be making the
presentations. The objective of the Montreal Anarchist Book Fair is to create an
accessible and inclusive event for all.

The place where the Book Fair will take place is next to a large park and a soccer field,
and when the weather is good (usually in May, in Montreal, the weather is very pleasant),
go to the Fair of the Book is also to play a soccer, to catch a solzinho and to stay
talking with amigxs and futurxs amigxs.

All Fair activities are free and open to all, but we accept voluntary contributions to
help us cover expenses.

Essentially, The Montreal Anarchist Book Fair is for people who are sympathetic to
Anarchism and who want to know more about it.

The collective organizer of the Montreal Anarchist Book Fair recognizes that we are in the
territory that is traditionally of the Kanien'kehá: ka people. Guardian people of East
Gate of the Houdenosaunee confederation. The island called "Montreal" is known by the name
Tiohtià: ke in the language of Kanien'kehá: ka and was a historical place of meeting point
of other autochthonous nations, including the Algonquian peoples. The Collective of the
Anarchist Book Fair does not believe it is enough to simply recognize the guardians of
this land. We encourage all Fair participants to inform themselves, educate themselves and
actively resist colonialism and neocolonialism in all its forms. It is our diversity that
will give strength to resistance!
