The MACG thus defends Julian Assange, not because of his politics, which have curdled and
are now quite suspect, nor because we consider him innocent of the Swedish accusations.
The US ruling class has no objection to his politics, because they are riddled with the
sort of people with whom he has been collaborating. And neither do they have any objection
to sexual assault - if they did, Donald Trump would not be President. The United States
wants to punish him, not for any crimes he might have committed, but for his good deeds.
The MACG defend Assange for those same good deeds. ---- Julian Assange, the founder of
Wikileaks, was arrested on 11 April when the Ecuadorian Government invited British police
into their London embassy for that purpose. Initially charged with breaching bail, he was
quickly also hit with a US charge of conspiracy to commit computer intrusion. He has since
been sentenced to almost the maximum term for breaching bail and the process for
extraditing him to the United States, which could be a long one, has begun.

The United States wants Assange because Wikileaks stands against the entire apparatus of
national security in that country and has published much damaging information about its
murderous and undemocratic activities - not least the Collateral Murder video that made
Wikileaks famous. Wikileaks is so dangerous to the reputation of the CIA, the US military,
State Department, the FBI, the major political parties and so many other components of the
State in the US that the capitalist class want that organisation shut down for good and
for Assange to be made an example of to deter potential successors. Accordinly, though the
charge on which Assange has been arrested is one that has a maximum penalty of five years
imprisonment, it should be expected that other, heavier charges are in the works.

In publishing the crimes of Uncle Sam, Julian Assange performed a great service for the
working class and the oppressed peoples of the world and on that basis he must be defended
against US attempts to seek retribution against him. He is, however, no saint. Firstly, he
is accused of sexual assault in Sweden. While it is clear from published facts that
Assange's sexual ethics are poor, the Melbourne Anarchist Communist Group is unsure
whether his actions amount to a breach of Swedish law. Accordingly, we believe that he
should go to Sweden to deal with the accusations and clear his name or face the consequences.

Secondly, Assange's tactics during the US election campaign of 2016 and his political
statements since are quite unsavoury, while some of the political associates he has been
cultivating during his time as a fugitive in the Ecuadorian Embassy have been extremely
dangerous. We therefore believe that, once he is out of the clutches of the United States,
his future activities should be watched with great care until he can explain himself as a
free agent.

ASSANGE SHOULD GO TO SWEDEN NOT TO THE US

Recently, once again, I read that the features of anarchism "in the neglect of standards
of behavior, in the outrage of the crowd." But why and how did this image take shape, if
approximately 90% of anarchists of the 19th and 20th centuries. Are they Bakuninists
(anarcho-collectivists) and anarcho-communists? Usually, anarchists did not call society a
"mob", did not express any contempt for millions of poor and poor people, and never had
the goal of "making themselves". Quite the contrary, they sympathized with all the
oppressed people. ---- The anarchism of that era must be judged by 300 thousand
participants in the anti-authoritarian Bakuninist sections of the First International in
Spain in the 1870s, by 850 thousand Italian anarchist workers in 1920, or by the
anarchists of Bialystok and Odessa in 1905-1907. In Russia since the time of the First
Russian Revolution, about 70% of anarchists are working peripheral industrial centers
(Bialystok, Odessa, Yekaterinoslav, Warsaw, Baku) with the ideas of collectivism,
stateless communism and millenarian doctrines of the end of the epoch and the coming
Golden Age of equality and fraternity - the "millennial earthly paradise" . All these
people, like the anarchist peasants in Andalusia or Siberia, should be compared with the
radical heresies of the Middle Ages, which had similar doctrines - with the Paulicians,
with the radical wing of the Cathars who created communes in southern France in the 12th
and 13th centuries. The goal of the vast majority of anarchists was to create a society
based on collective ownership (instead of private ownership), self-government of labor
collectives and districts united in a confederation. The goal was the elimination of wage
labor.

In this case, the anarchists sought to rely on the broad protest movements of the lower
classes against poor wages and poor working conditions. Their goal was not to "stand out
from the crowd," but to find understanding among the underprivileged and help them defend
themselves against all injustice. Epatage and "contempt for the crowd" - a common thing
for ultra-individualistic freaks who despise others, who consider themselves to be the
"salt of the earth." However, such people among anarchists were also, although they were
in the minority. The Bolshevik propaganda and liberal propaganda, of course, noticed these
features of the anarchist minority and began to focus on them. And it is clear why. There
is no conspiracy here, but a simple unwillingness to advertise to enemies. Collective mass
anarchism of Bialystok in the face of heretical folk meetings, military strikes and
attacks on businessmen, anarchism, trying to turn the world around, was dangerous, so that
they, bosses, in this regard, can certainly be understood. Freaks, on the contrary, are
comfortable.

Freaks are funny, funny. The eccentric who demonstratively fucked (with the words about
anarchism) on the central square with a girl, pinned, in his own way, is not at all
terrible (especially if he didn't have a very good sexual act). Wearing strange, from the
point of view of others, clothes and doing a mohawk-hairstyle, causes sympathy if he is
attacked (in fact, he has the right to dress like he wants and beat him for it - wrong).
When freaks are subjected to repression, many sympathize with them - after all, they have
not done anything terrible. But they are not taken seriously. And this is the main point.

Here I hear a remark - a quotation from Emma Goldman: "I don't need a revolution in which
I can't dance". Oh, it's all so wonderful: both dance and laughter. Only there is a
difference between Aesop and Xanthos. When Aesop joked, they laughed at his jokes. When
Xanthos joked, they laughed at Xanthos himself (C).

What's new at the AF Publishing House stand during this year's Anarchist Book Festival?
---- On 18 and 19 May 2019, the seventh annual Anarchist Festival of the Book will be held
in Prague's Žižkov . As always, we can look forward to a rich accompanying program and
stands for various publishers, anti-authoritarian groups and activist teams. Of course,
the Anarchist Federation Publishing House will not be missing . And as in previous years,
we have prepared several book novelties for our readers this year. There are: ---- Peter
Gelderloos: Anarchy Works. Examples of anarchist ideas in practice ---- "That would never
work," people usually argue when we try to bring them anarchist approach to human society.
Anarchy is in their eyes a utopian ideal that has no chance to survive in reality. Peter
Gelderloos tells them that he is fundamentally wrong. It brings dozens of examples from
around the world, from the past and the present, and shows them that anarchy, a social
arrangement in which interpersonal relationships are not determined by hierarchy and
violent exercise of power, but by the principles of solidarity and mutual assistance, is
not only functional, but also entirely natural. . Anarchy is the system from which man
came and lives and thrives even today if he was not prepared for it by force or fraud. It
is also a system whereby it can best deal with the pressing challenges of today, such as
poverty and inequality or environmental devastation. Peter Gelderloos' book is a
historical tour of the various forms of anarchy that have ever occurred in the world. In
addition, it also serves as a practical guide for all those who are aware of the plight of
our world and would like to do something about it.

Peter Gelderloos (b. 1982 in the USA) is one of the leading anarchist writers of today. He
is the author of a number of theoretical, historical and travel books, including How
Nonviolence Protects the State (2007), To Get to the Other Side: A journey through Europe
and its anarchist movements (2010) or Worshiping Power: (2017). For his views and
activism, he faced police persecution several times. He currently lives in Catalonia.

Radical Buddhism - a small reader (not only) for anarchists

A small reader of radical Buddhism is the first publication of its kind in the Czech
Republic, overwhelmed by an esoteric crap. It introduces readers to the theoretical and
historical foundations of contemporary social and ecological Buddhism in the West and
Asia, where Buddhism is so-called "home". On the example of professional studies (Bondy,
Fromm, Shields, Victoria) as well as dedicated texts of engaged Buddhists (Uchiyama, Har
Dajal, Ambedkar, Snyder, Cafard), he demonstrates the essential incompatibility of
Buddhist philosophy with the ideology of "real capitalism" and, on the contrary, seeks the
point of contact between Buddhism and anarchist thinking. He chose, translated from
English, notes and proclaimed Max Scur.

A-song

The latest, somewhat unconventional publication from The Anarchist Federation Publishing
House is A-song with the subtitle Guitar Songbook of Anarchist, Anti-Fascist and Other
Anti-System Songs . You will find fifty different pieces from different corners of the
world and time periods that are connected with the desire for freedom and equality. There
is also a brief description of how it was created for each song.

(80 pages A5, paperback, recommended contribution to cover 90 CZK)

... And more

On the stand of the Anarchist Federation Publishing House, in addition to our earlier
publications and anarchist review Existence, there will also be three titles of two
ruthless performers, published by Jan Tesnohlídek:

Milan Kozelka: The Semen of the Spruce (A collection of very provocative satirical texts
that openly and directly identify the problems of contemporary society. How appealing is
the idea of particular persons of our political representation held in the camps? What is
your opinion on the legacy of the Czech underground? )

Milan Kozelka: Tetelište zmrdu (Another collection of satirical texts, this time even
sharper and more satirical. It deals with the most up-to-date political issues as well as
social phenomena, attacks the legends of underground and politics. It does not avoid
confrontation with the present, rather seeks it out. to the corpses, in which you can read
what Jan Patocka, Pavel Wonka, or what Jan Palach has on IM Jirouse.

Milan Kohout: Rage (A radical collection of poems by world-renowned performer and writer
Milan Kohout contains over fifty poems that are divided into two sections, America and
Europe. They mainly reflect the period when Kohout returned to his native Bohemia for many
years after many years of living in The US and found that even in the Czech Republic the
social system is not very friendly, the whole collection is intertwined with the theme of
social and religious criticism, Kohout does not avoid sharper words, rather the opposite.
with its dark atmosphere in great dialogue with the author's radical, even apocalyptic poems.)

AF publisher in the program

As in previous years, we also contributed to the program of the book festival. So, on
Saturday, you can look forward to the presentation of our publishing house's news items
with the participation of people who have been involved in processing or translating them.
The performance will be held at noon in Space 39. Release gig A-songs will be in progress
from 18.30 . The above-mentioned songbook will be presented by well-known Czechoslovak
folk and folk musicians who also have their own songs in the publication: Beltza Gorria ,
Dáša fon Bottle and OiOi Piratoi . But this time they will not play their own work - they
will play some songs from the songbook that are nice to their hearts. You'll probably know
most of them, so glow your vocal cords and get ready for choral songs from start to finish.

Support anarchist journalism!

We are looking forward to your participation.

The backstreets of Borough were quiet at 6.30pm on a cool Thursday evening in March. No
one noticed the small gang of anarchists as they rounded on the south London offices of

Commuters suffer in traffic chaos as jute mill workers continue demo for arrears in
capital's Demra, Khulna ---- People walk under the scorching sun near the Sultana Kamal
Bridge in the capital's Demra yesterday after jute mill workers blocked the road during
demonstration for a set of demands, including payment of arrears. ---- Workers yesterday
called an indefinite strike at all state-owned jute mills from May 13 to realise their
demands, including the one for arrears. ---- They will also block roads and railways
across the country for an indefinite period from the same day. ---- Thousands of workers
demonstrated in Khulna and in the capital's Demra for a third straight day yesterday,
blocking roads and railways for hours in different parts of the two industrial belts.
Khulna and Demra are home to 11 state-run jute mills.

Some 70,000 workers are employed in the 23 jute and three non-jute mills under the
state-run Bangladesh Jute Mill Corporation (BJMC). Most jute mills workers have not been
paid for six to 13 weeks.

"We will go for a general strike at all state-owned jute mills from May 13," Motahar
Uddin, president of Bangladesh Jute Mills Sramik League, told us.

As part of the programme, no workers will join work and they will block roads and railways
across the country from 4:00pm to 7:00pm every day for an indefinite period, he said after
a meeting of labour leaders at the BJMC office in the capital yesterday.

In the meantime, the ongoing street protest, which began on Monday, will continue, he added.

Workers said that they had to return to the streets as their arrears were not paid even
two weeks after the expiry of a deadline set by the BJMC itself.

Earlier on April 15, labour leaders held a meeting with the BJMC chairman and jute
ministry officials at the BJMC office in the wake of a similar protest over their
nine-point demand.

At the meeting, officials said all dues would be cleared by April 25.

Their other demands include implementation of the Wage Commission of 2015, payment of
gratuities and provident funds of retired workers, and appointment of workers and making
their jobs permanent as per the law.

Contacted, BJMC Chairman , said they were trying to meet the workers' demands.

"Things are on right track. We have written to the government, asking for money.

"Production at mills is being hampered because of the ongoing protest, which will
ultimately affect the workers," he added.

An additional secretary of the jute and textile ministry also said they sought allocations
from the finance ministry to clear the workers' dues.

"We will be able to pay them if we get the money," he told The reporter last night,
requesting anonymity.

Jute mill workers holding sticks occupy a road near Sultana Kamal Bridge in the capital's
Demra yesterday. They were demonstrating for a set of demands, including payment of arrears.

THE PROTEST

In Demra, workers blocked the Staff Quarter intersection, Demra-Rampura road and
Demra-Narayanganj road, creating tailbacks.

Hundreds of workers of Latif Bawany Jute Mills and Karim Jute Mills took position on the
streets at 6:00am and their protest continued till 5:00pm.

Some workers also set fire to tree logs and bamboo sticks on the road, witnesses said.

Vehicles were seen taking alternative routes to avoid congestion.

CBA President of Latif Bawany Jute Mills, said workers abstained from work and held a
peaceful protest.

At Latif Bawany, six weeks' wages and two months' salaries are due, he said.

In Khulna, workers of all the nine state-owned jute mills blocked Dhaka-Khulna highway at
Notunrasta intersection from 4:00pm to 7:00pm.

No workers of Daulatpur Jute Mills, Khalishpur Jute Mills, Star Jute Mills, Crescent Jute
Mills and Platinum Jute Mills joined work.

Workers also blocked the rail lines, forcing at least three trains to remain stranded for
hours, officials said.

In this situation Bangladesh AnarchoSyndicalist Federation-BASF declare its full
solidarity with On going movement of working people. BASF remarkes that, "It is inhuman to
not pay the workers whose only source of money is wages. The government shoul

The college has never been an island of emancipation cut off from capitalist society. Like
society as a whole, it has always been a battlefield. A new model remains to be invented,
but what is certain is that it will emerge from our struggles and dreams ! ---- There is
something rotten in college ... ---- The galley, we all know it. There are overloaded
lecture halls, lack of space in TD, teachers in a hurry who speak poorly, precarious work
after classes just to pay a maid's room or a bed in a U-City ... Competition is over more
fierce between the students, and all that for diplomas which, as we are told, are
worthless. The wave of neoliberal capitalism has fallen on the University for decades,
carried by both left-wing and right-wing governments. The college pretended to be open and
proclaimed that it would give us emancipation through knowledge. Today, it is becoming
increasingly clear that we are no more than '' customers '' coming to acquire '' skills
''. But is this really a novelty ?

It's a whole system that must be called into question !
In recent years, we have seen in college student movements that, repeating old recipes,
have not been victorious. Ask about the " university " institution and its key role in the
capitalist system: reproduction of social inequalities (selection already existed before
the ORE law !), Production of knowledge useful to the market and competition between
students and students. researcher.se.s ... the college does not seek to build critical
minds but to ensure employability. So, we can not be content with a mere " defense of the
achievements " of a mythical republican university that no longer exists. Let us question
this institution, which, far from emancipating individuals, seeks to bring them into line
with the market order !

From the self-management of struggles to that of study places
This criticism we carry concretely in the student struggles, by self-management practices
and a revolutionary syndicalism. In the organization of the struggle we experience other
ways of organizing ourselves in break with the hierarchy. By confronting, by gaining new
rights, we realize our collective strength: it is up to the students and the workers of
the universities to manage them, because it is we who make them work, who produce the
knowledge and who we train. In a libertarian communist society, AGs of users and workers
would organize the formation and production of knowledge. They will be linked to MAs from
cities, territories and those in the workplace.

Revolution ! Self-management !

Today, Sunday (05/12), at 7:00 AM, after nearly 24 hours in the dungeons of the Aguilera
police station, Jimmy and I were released. ---- State Security stopped us to prevent us
from reaching the independent march against homophobia that nevertheless happened. We are
already well, in our Social Center and LIBRA Librarian Library, and we do not suffer any
extra violent abuse of arbitrary detention. ---- We want to thank all the people and
groups who have shown solidarity. And we want to congratulate everyone who has
demonstrated self-organization, without the need for great leadership. ---- The various
conventions, the networks of allied individuals and groups, the decentralization of the
call and convergence in the struggle against homophobia, transphobia and religious
fundamentalism, have borne fruit.

Our solidarity with other people who were also prevented from getting to the march, or who
suffered police violence during the protest.
