Sign Now Dear friends, In an attempt to teach his impressionable young students about the food chain, Farsley Farfield Primary School head teacher Peter Harris purchased two spotted pigs for the UK school's mini farm. Children as young as four have quickly grown attached to the pigs. They have been helping raise the pigs, feeding them, grooming them, and even playing with them by hiding apples around their pen. Sadly, the children will lose their new four-legged friends in nine months when Mr. Harris plans to slaughter them. Harris claims that this will teach the children to reduce their meat consumption. While this hard lesson could help children realize that the neatly packaged cuts of meat they see at the market were once living, feeling, and intelligent animals, there has to be a better way for children to learn this lesson without traumatizing them by needlessly killing their favorite farm friends. Please sign this petition calling on Mr. Harris to let current and future Farsley Farfield students continue to care for the pigs on the school's mini farm, or to donate the pigs to an animal sanctuary. There is no need for these animals to be killed.
