He let an underage sexual trafficker off the hook

Labor Secretary Alexander Acosta took it easy on a child sex trafficker back when he was a prosecutor in Miami. Now there are fresh charges. Acosta has got to go.

Dear friends,
Alexander Acosta should be ashamed of himself. Ten years ago, as U.S. Attorney in Miami, he was in charge of prosecuting a known child sex trafficker, Jeffrey Epstein. But he let this predator off with just a slap on the wrist. Now, Epstein has been charged againwith running a sex trafficking ring exploiting underage girls.
Today, Acosta serves as the U.S. Secretary of Labor — a huge promotion that he clearly does not deserve. Acosta's negligence allowed Epstein to exploit and abuse more young women. He has no business remaining in his position as Secretary of Labor.
Back when Acosta was a prosecutor, Epstein was charged with trafficking 80 girls. Yet, the two buddies cut a deal that allowed Epstein to serve only 13 months in prison, during which he was on work release for up to 12 hours a day, six days a week. In other words, he was hardly actually in prison at all. This deal was so shady and secretive, that a Florida judge has ruled it illegal and the case is under review. The fresh child trafficking charges against Epstein make it even clearer that Acosta's poor judgement and lenient treatment make him unfit to for public service.
Trump, himself a credibly accused sexual abuser, has decided to stand by his man so far. But if we build enough public pressure and show Trump that there are real political consequences for propping up Acosta — the man who protected a child molester — he'll have to act.
Thank you,

P.S. The Labor Department oversees human trafficking issues. Its secretary shouldn't be a man who let a child sex trafficker off easy.
