This woman was denied conception by her pharmacist

A Brighton woman had to pay for emergency

Best friends,
On Sunday June 16, a woman in Brighton, U.K. went to a Lloyds Pharmacy to pick up a prescription for emergency contraception, also known as the "morning after pill." She'd already paid online, but when she arrived the pharmacist refused to give her the medication, citing "personal reasons."
Since that was the only Lloyds open at the time, the staff member told the woman to return the following morning during another pharmacist's shift. Such a long wait could dramatically reduce the effectiveness of the contraceptive. Ultimately, the woman was forced to go to another pharmacy, where she paid again to get the medication she needed.
Everyone's entitled to their own opinion about whether or not they would use birth control themselves. But no one should endure compromised medical care due to the opinion of the person filling their prescriptions. In the UK, there are regulations that state that pharmacists must "take responsibility for ensuring that person-centered care is not compromised because of personal values and beliefs." It's clear this pharmacy was in violation. We need Lloyds to do better.
Thank you,

P.S. One pharmacist's personal opinions shouldn't be allowed to deny any woman access to birth control. Demand Lloyds Pharmacy ensure there are staff at all their pharmacies who will fill any contraception prescription.
