Dogs are dying and it's illegal to rescue them

Dear friends,
Summer is upon us, and it has already yielded some of hottest months on record. These are the type of temperatures that can be deadly. And not just to humans — our pets are in danger of overheating when left outside for too long. But what could kill them even faster is being left in a locked car by a careless owner on a hot summer day.
Even in cooler temperatures, leaving a dog in a car could be deadly. When it's just (70°F/ 21°C) degrees outside, the thermostat can rocket to (90°F / 32°C) inside the cabin — a temperature that could quickly turn fatal for our beloved pets.
But if a good Samaritan tries to save a dog locked in a hot car in the United Kingdom, they could land in hot water. That's because only police are allowed to rescue a trapped, frying animal — civilians could be subjected to an investigation for criminal damage and be prosecuted. Punishment if found guilty can be harsh.
The safety of our pets, like the safety of our children, shouldn't be negotiable. And no one should have to risk going to jail to save a life. The U.K. needs a law that guarantees that all citizens have the right to save an animal when it is locked in an "auto oven".
Thank you,

P.S. Pets are dying due to being left in hot cars, and the U.K. says it's illegal for good people to rescue them. Sign on to support a national hot dog law that allows for good samaritans to rescue dogs in danger!
