Two Of This Zoo's Three Elephants Have Died In Less Than A Year. Will You Fight To Save The Last Remaining Elephant?
| Sign Now |
Dear,
RW Commerford & Sons Zoo in Connecticut used to have three elephants locked in their custody. That is, until two of them died within seven months of each other. The zoo, however, legally owns one additional elephant, Minnie. We have to save her life while we still can.
Commerford Zoo was already well-known for its abusive and negligent conditions. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) had cited the facility multiple times for animal welfare violations, and visitors have noted that staff frequently used torturous bullhooks on these intelligent, highly sensitive animals. For months, animal lovers had suspected that one of the elephant, Karen, had passed away — but the zoo waited more than six months to finally confirm her death.
The second elephant, Beulah, was nearly 50 years old and had been in captivity at the zoo for nearly 20 years. Before she died, she hadn't been seen in public for a year, leading advocates to speculate about her health. Then, her captors forced her out for one final "entertaining" show at the Big E fair in Massachusetts, where she collapsed over and over. She died shortly thereafter.
It's only a matter of time before Minnie, too, passes away without ever knowing freedom. We can't let that happen. Sign the petition and demand that R.W. Commerford & Sons send Minnie to a reputable animal sanctuary where she can live out in life in health and happiness!
Thank you for all that you do,
P.S. Karen and Beulah the elephants were abused to death. Now Minnie could face the same treatment. Speak out for Minnie and demand that her zoo captors send her to a safe, reputable animal sanctuary!
