Forced marriage victims are charged for their own rescue

If you're forced into an overseas marriage, you may need to pay for being rescued. Sign Now Dear friends, Young British girls and women are being sent to other countries against their will, where they are then forced into marriage. Even more shockingly, the U.K. Foreign Office is actually making them pay for their own rescues. An investigation by the British newspaper The Times found that women who were unable to cover the costs associated with food, shelter, and flights back to the U.K. had to borrow money to repay the government. Forced marriage is truly slavery. Young girls can sometimes be married off to much older men and be treated as property. These are girls who are British nationals and should be a huge priority for the government. Yet, instead of just focusing on doing the right thing, the government is forcing these victims to take out huge loans to pay for the privilege of being helped. This is unacceptable and morally wrong, which is why I have signed this petition and urge you to do the same. Stand with victims of forced oversea marriages who are being impelled to take out huge loans to pay to be rescued. Sign the petition urging the British Government to change this cruel injustice immediately!
