Dear Luc
As this decade draws to an end, I can't help but feel like we're living in an increasingly polarized world. It's hard to deny that hate and violence against LGBT+ people are on the rise.
This year alone, Brunei introduced a law that calls for death by stoning for gay sex. Criminalization bills were considered in Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, and Indonesia. Officials in Uganda and U.S. hate groups are calling for the notorious "Kill the Gays" bill once again.
Every month, dozens of LGBT+ people are murdered in Brazil. And there is still no justice for those killed by state authorities in Chechnya.
But throughout it all, All Out members like you kept fighting back time and time again. You fueled so many amazing wins in 2019.
You stared down unbelievable hate, spoke up, and took action. Thanks to you, in 2019 our movement helped launch shelters for LGBT+ people, relocated dozens of LGBT+ refugees, drowned out hate groups with resounding messages of love, empowered the next generation of LGBT+ freedom fighters, and so much more.
You inspire me to get up and do my part every day.
As we start to count down the hours to 2020, we need to keep standing together and strengthening this movement. We owe it to our brave LGBT+ siblings fighting on the battlefronts, risking everything to achieve dignity and equality.
Thank you for all that you do,
Matt,
