Dear friends, Lions are wild predators, and there is no reason humans should be near them. But unfortunately, that hasn't stopped countless zoos from trying to facilitate up-close interactions with paying guests. Now, a zoo on the southern Gaza Strip has taken things to a whole new level by removing their claws so kids can touch and hug them. Just like when people do this to house cats, the procedure is completely inhumane. Declawing is not like trimming the felines' nails. In fact, it's the equivalent of sawing off fingers up to the first knuckle. Not only is it extremely painful, usually for the rest of their lives, but it also leaves them in anguish over their inability to defend themselves. Luckily, the zoo has started to heed our call. All animals except for the birds have been transferred out. Now we need to make sure this heinous, abusive zoo re-homes its last animals as well! Aside from this particular practice, the Gaza Zoo is well known for being one of the most abusive in the world. And that's really saying something, since every zoo exploits and psychologically damages the animals in their "care." All exploitation of animals for profit is wrong.
