Puppies Are Still Suffering in Pet Mills in 48 States. Demand That They Shut Commercial Breeders Down!

Dear friends,
Animal rights activists had cause to celebrate this year when New York became the next state in the U.S. to introduce a bill that, if passed, would ban the sale of dogs, cats, and rabbits from commercial breeders in retail pet stores. With this bill, New York is poised to join the ranks of California and Maryland, the only two states that have passed such legislation. But the fight is far from over.
Commercial breeders — commonly referred to as "mills" — are cruel and inhumane. Their animals are often crammed in filthy cages and denied proper nutrition, exercise, and medical care.
Not only are the conditions in pet mills abhorrant, they create a vicious cycle of overbreeding. An oversaturated pet market means more and more animals end up in shelters and are at risk of being euthanized.
More than 230 cities and counties in the US have already banned pet mill animals from pet stores, and that number keeps growing. It's a step in the right direction that pet stores in these places must only sell rescue animals, but we need these bans to be enforced statewide, not just city to city.
California and Maryland are the first states to do so, and hopefully New York will be next in line. Pets that were facing the needle will now have a chance to find a second forever home. Please add your name to urge other states to follow suit and save more pets' lives!
Thank you,
