Our lessons: the anti-apartheid mass movement in the United States ---- The May 25, 2020, killing of a black man named George Floyd by four
white police in Minneapolis, USA, has sparked an anti-apartheid movement across the United States. ---- Such a spontaneous movement of
people in the United States on the eve of the global corona virus epidemic is truly unprecedented. In particular, where the United States is
ahead of any other country in terms of corona infection and has a record number of deaths, such a wave of people against the
administration's racist behavior really amazes us. ---- Racist treatment of blacks is not a new phenomenon in America. Rather it has always
been brought to the fore by various events where the names of institutional structures like Hollywood are associated. Recently, there have
been allegations of neglecting non-black or white actors, leading to boycotts of the Oscars (Academy Awards).

The current anti-apartheid movement is the largest mass movement in recent times since the Occupy World Street movement in the United States
in 2011. This movement and the slogan ‘Black Life Matter' has spread to every city in America. Despite the efforts of the Donald Trump
administration by the police and the army to suppress the movement, the victory of the people's collective protest is still going on. Police
in many other provinces, including Los Angeles, have expressed solidarity with the protesters and expressed their moral support for the
Black Life Matter movement. The protesters tore down Confederate sculptures of slave traders and proponents of the slave system in various
parts of the country, including those of Christopher Columbus and Captain Cook.

At the same time, the removal of racist content from online platforms is significant. This wave of anti-apartheid movements in the United
States has moved the whole world, as well as Europe and Africa. Citizens of various European countries are protesting against racism by
declaring solidarity with the agitators in the United States. In Europe, as in the United States, there are calls for the removal of
sculptures of various slave traders, kings and statesmen, including the names of King Leopold II of Belgium, Winston Churchill, Prime
Minister of Britain, Robert Milligan, and Clauston. On the other hand, in Ghana, Africa, there is a demand to remove the sculpture of
Mahatma Gandhi as a supporter of racism.

The anti-apartheid mass tide created by the people of the United States has become a global mass tide. So that some of the scandalous
chapters of history that we should have buried 100 years ago are floating away. Meanwhile, the declaration of a "free zone" by activists in
Seattle, USA, has revived the memory of the Paris Commune of 181. Simply put, this movement, like other mass movements, has been enriched by
the acquisition of many pieces that show us the dream of a transformational system.
But what we will learn from the experience of these mass movements is important. All sections, progressive or change-loving, are optimistic
about the current spontaneous mass movement against racism. In addition to the spontaneous masses, the current movement in the United States
also includes organizations such as the Ernakist Mahal, Antifa, Black Panther and the Communist Party, which have undoubtedly established a
mass character of the movement. But the limitation is that so far the spontaneity of this movement has sought to justify events in the
existing system as opposed to any alternative political motive.

For example, the main slogan of the Occupy World Street movement in the United States in September 2011 was "We're the 99%" where the issue
of economic inequality was brought to the fore. The experience of this spontaneous mass movement in the United States was really pleasant.
But the reality is that even after that movement, a clown like Donald Trump did not have to gain much momentum to come to power in the
United States. In fact, the Occupy World Street movement has painted a picture of a discriminatory system, but it has not challenged the
idea of ending it. As a result, it has failed to build any structural hegemony to counter the existing system of discrimination, which has
99 percent of the resources in the hands of 1 percent of the people.

Of course, a fundamental question also arises here, are you talking about the establishment of an egalitarian authoritarian counter as
opposed to a discriminatory authoritarian system? Neither is it in favor of reforming the existing system nor is it in favor of eradicating
authoritarianism. If the existing system speaks of reform or eradication of authoritarianism, then you are bound to be a fraud. Because
structuralism or the presence of the state itself informs authoritarianism. In fact, the main contradiction here is the authoritarianism of
the majority versus the authoritarian system in the interests of the minority.

Again, if you talk about system reform, it is also wrong. Because caste-based imperialist views, slavery, the structure of labor
exploitation are the main driving forces of capitalism. The current global political-economic structure is based on cheap labor, unorganized
labor markets, imperialist warfare, arbitrary use of natural resources, racial and caste divisions, and above all, unimaginable inequality
in education, health, housing, and wages. And it is impossible to find a single solution to all these inequalities while keeping the
capitalist system intact.

In capitalism, the state and the market equally impose authoritarianism on the people. In this case, when the market is in crisis, state
authoritarianism takes on extreme proportions. Suppose you are a black man but sell skin whitening cream for a living and the hefty salary
you get in return keeps you happy. In this case you may be a staunch opponent of racism but it makes no difference because you have shown
loyalty to the system for the sake of livelihood. Now if you want an end to racism, a change of the whole system is urgent, a piecemeal
change of attitude cannot change its content.

A major limitation of the spontaneous movement is the inability in most cases to establish an alternative structural system as opposed to
the existing exploitative system. An example is the experience of the 2010 Arab Spring. Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Syria after the Arab Spring
have not been able to give any happy memories so far. If the image of present-day Libya or Egypt had been seen by the people of that country
before, perhaps the rule of Muammar Gaddafi or Hosni Mubarak would have been accepted for decades to come. It would not be wrong to refer to
these experiences as the result of not holding the totality of the spontaneous mass movement.

If the current movement in the United States was in any third world country, maybe the government would have fallen so far. However, in this
case, it is not the people who caused the fall of the government. Rather, it could have happened with the intervention of any western
country. But since the movement is in the Moral state itself, it can be said without any doubt that they will digest it. In return, some
reform measures may be taken to quell public anger. It will, of course, bring about very little change in the racist social structure. This
does not mean that the spontaneous mass movement is irrelevant. The spontaneity of the movement for the realization of human rights is very
important. There should be such a mass movement and we should also give our full support to it. However, the forces of change need to bring
to the fore the issue of political characterization of the movement. So that the movement does not remain just a reaction to an event, it
also helps to build the hegemony of a non-discriminatory system as opposed to a non-discriminatory system. Because we cannot allow the mass
tides formed by the fundamental conflicts of the present time to be confined to mere public anger.

The current movement in the United States is as much anti-Trump as it is anti-racism. It is as if a devil has seized power in the kingdom of
the gods and we are moving to bring back the angel. The opposition Democrat camp has benefited the most from this movement so far. Do we
remember Oscar Grant? In 2009, a week after Barack Obama became president of the United States, 22-year-old black unarmed Oscar was shot
dead by police in Auckland. From that point of view, racism is not a Republican or Democrat agenda in the United States, it is an integral
part of the political-economic crisis of the capitalist system, the solution of which is not to change the political party but to change the
system. If it is presented as a partisan policy, Republicans are historically far ahead of Democrats. Because the abolition of slavery took
place in the United States in 184 at the hands of Republican President Abraham Lincoln, where Democrats were fiercely opposed to it. On the
other hand, there is some opposition among those who are united in the movement, such as the sculptural monument of the pro-slavery group in
Bitren, the media is vocal, but the constitutional monarchy of Bitren, one of the patrons of racism, is not very vocal.

Ultimately, a meaningful political change will only happen when white and black people stand up against racism as well as the larger social
structure takes a neutral to anti-racist stance. Therefore, the political characterization of the spontaneous mass movement is very
important. Which will present a vision of an alternative socialist governance structure as opposed to a discriminatory one and will be
proactive in implementing it. And this is where the party, the organization and the coercive force are needed.

Saguenay, July 5 // Forty meals were distributed today in downtown Chicoutimi on the occasion of the Self-Managed Cooking Pot organized by
the Collectif anarchiste Emma Goldman. The theme of the event was "solidarity will never be confined" to underline the essential role of
mutual aid networks in this difficult context. Cold packaged submarines were offered respecting the physical distance and the people on the
spot were able to take or give "by the heap"[1]in the free market. Of course, discussions and exchanges of views were more than anything
else at the heart of the event. ---- The forgotten and forgotten of the pandemic were the less fortunate and marginalized. These people were
already living in difficult situations with the gentrification of the city center. The rising cost of rent, harassment and repression by the
police and the food desert, along with the crumbling of the social safety net and austerity policies, were already causing their share of
misery in the neighborhood. Today, in the shadows of the shops on rue Racine who sing the deconfinement in the middle of the street there
are many people who are struggling and who have not received any additional help to cope with all these hassles.

Tenants once again told us about the exorbitant price charged by their owner (example $ 530 / month for a very small 1 and a half) and
repairs that were delayed for weeks. For a very large part of the less fortunate, rent takes up the largest share of their income. We saw
with the rooming house at 734 rue Racine last year that the city tolerates slum owners to continue their unscrupulous exploitation, even
after a fire with considerable damage (and one death in this case). The pandemic has made it more difficult for people to pay and has given
new apologies to landlords who neglect their tenants' homes. However, only companies received help.

La Marmite autogéré is an autonomous and libertarian response to the needs of the neighborhood. We do not receive any funding. We are
workers and unemployed workers in the neighborhood who want to encourage mutual assistance by offering everyone, without distinction, a free
nutritious meal for all appetites. We are critical of the leadership of the community movement and its donors (state or private) through
institutionalization and practices akin to Christian charity. Collective grassroots mobilizations and popular education are essential to
regain dignity, as well as a voice in this system. Through the Self-Managed Cooking Pot, we want to encourage the development of mutual aid
networks and the multiplication of autonomous solidarity initiatives.

Bourgeois democracy always respects "democratic rights" if it can "sell" them more expensively than it "buys" them. ---- But we live in a
time when "democratic rights" can be expensive. We are living in another episode of an escalating economic crisis that began a decade ago
with fiscal collapse, memoranda and commissions and is now enriched by a series of other crises such as health, geopolitics, immigration...
Huge challenges are coming so far. state / capital as well as the social base. In such circumstances, the people's choice to take to the
streets can determine developments in directions that the state avoids. That is why the state is targeting the protests. As a while ago, he
targeted Exarcheia. Or as he did with the right to strike. With the squatting. Just like he hired thousands of new cops. As he bought auras
and tons of new chemicals. If one does not see that the other side is being equipped while at the same time trying to disarm us, he is
voluntarily blind.
So this is not the time for "democratic rights", they cost a lot and after all a right-wing government does not easily find buyers in its
audience, it cannot even sell them. On Thursday, the Parliament passes a bill that practically abolishes the right to demonstrate. We are
not the ones to be surprised by such a blatant violation of the letter and spirit of the supposed "democracy". However, it is worth noting
something unprecedented: although part of ND's election program, this legislation had disappeared for a long time. It is of particular
importance that he returned to the public eye and ended up being voted on under public pressure by a major capitalist through the
(pro-government) media he owns. This is a rare time when the interaction between capital and the state becomes so obvious. And it makes sense.
In fact, their goal is not so much to gather the base if it gets in the way. They are well aware that state power cannot confront the
majority with the sheep of democracy when it revolts. Their goal is to stop the sparks that can ignite fires. Their goal is the political
and social structures of struggle. Organized forces from the entire opposition spectrum, uncontrolled unions, local movements and demanding
struggles. They are the best they can do to defend their interests. Having an army of propaganda parrots, they are trying in practice to cut
off the social media's channels of contact with its radical spear. They are trying to divide the base.
In such a challenge there is neither half-heartedness, nor any choice for whatever power is on the side of the many. The choice is one.
Open, public and fully aware of the possible costs, refusal to comply with the new law. Every organization, every formation of a struggle
must come out in public and declare its disobedience. To declare it both to the state as a proud and honest act of resistance but also to
the base as a promise and commitment. As the Anarchist Federation, we clearly state that we will not respect the new law. We will
demonstrate whenever we choose and the conditions demand and we will face any cost that this choice brings. In any case, we believe that the
generalization of this disobedience has every possibility of abolishing this law in practice. And by achieving something like this, it will
prevent the reduction of the forces of our class in the battles that are coming and from which the future of ourselves and our children will
be judged. The plans of the government will not pass.

The juntas are really for the crises.

But the uprisings are for the juntas, let the junta never forget that.

Everyone on the street!

The anarchist mass movement Makhnoshcina, that was named after him, liberated vast parts of the Ukraine between 1917 and 1921. The
revolution in the Ukraine was eventually defended against the reaction under the most adverse circumstances, but ultimately shattered by the
bloody betrayal of the Bolsheviks. ---- Makhno himself was one of the signatories of the Organisational Platform of the General Anarchist
Union of 1926, marking the birth of Platformism and a vital lesson in the defeat of the anarchist movement in the Soviet Union. ---- For
many Makhno is certainly not an undisputed figure of our movements history. Like most of his achievements, he faced many scurrilous tirades
directed towards him from being nothing more that a ignorant, simple bandit to him being antisemitic. Of course all are little more than the
typical diatribe of normal Bolshevik slander towards anarchists generally and without any foundation.

In the years that followed the eventual defeat of the Ukrainian Revolution, Makhno sadly died in virtual isolation. On this day, July 6th
1934 he died in exile in Paris many kilometres from his native Ukraine. A death not worthy of such an outstanding revolutionary.

Let us not forget the contribution Makhno made to the anarchist movement internationally and every thing he has done to further assist the
foundation for today's liberation of our class.

Global protests and demonstrations against racist violence are growing every day. Whether people are blamed as scapegoats for the pandemic,
are socially excluded again and again, locked up in camps, left to die at Europe's external borders or murdered by the police - racism has
many faces. ---- Currently, more and more people are clearly and angrily expressing the view that "Enough is enough". We welcome any effort
and coalition to find creative ways of collective action against the change of social and workers conditions. We, the Congress of the Free
Workers * Union (FAU), are sending solidarity greetings to to all these anti-racist movements happening right now over the globe - from G

The following text was prepared by the Federación Comarcal Sur of the CNT in Madrid on the occasion of the fortieth anniversary of the
Libertarian Athenaeum of Villaverde. In fact, the comrades of the union had planned activities for the celebration of this anniversary that
will have to wait due to the health and social emergency of Covid-19. To contextualize it, it is convenient to know that in the 1930s, in
the current location of the Athenaeum, there was the cooperative El Pan del Obrero, formed by anarcho-union workers, and that after the
victory of the coup in the Civil War, it was stolen from the union organization CNT . In 1960, after destroying the existing factory there,
in the place where it stayed, the building that served as the headquarters of the Vertical Union of the Franco regime was built and, after
its dissolution, left the building empty and in disuse.

When crossing Plata and Castañar or leaving Colonia Marconi behind; from the station down Espinela, or from Puente Alcocer crossing the
avenue. All roads in the district lead to the boulevard that heads the Athenaeum in Villaverde. Plaza Ágata, perhaps one of the hottest
places in the neighborhood, has housed this building for four decades. It is followed by Paseo, which, due to its constant crowd and the
meeting between a neighborhood renovated over the years, takes the form of a stage where life goes by. A place where the geography of the
city takes on vital importance. Too often marked by precariousness and abandoned by policies dedicated to the most central map of the
streets. There has been a habitual lack of supply, not only of some quality public services,

The Athenaeum always wanted to be the contrast with this plan for Villaverde. The home of all neighbors who, despite the difficulties of
everyday life, still want to find themselves as a rebellious collective for a better life. A meeting point for coexistence and mutual
support, to enjoy and learn. There are numerous initiatives and activities that have been launched in this space with this objective in
mind. Some lasted a long time, such as the rehearsal rooms and a comprehensive musical project, the group of female artisans, the vegetarian
dining room and kitchen workshops, or the Pequeñ @ Compañer @ daycare center, which symbolized the lack of municipal facilities, and raised
an experience that definitely united us to the nearest reality. Others were punctual and the Ateneu served as support, such as meetings to
organize carnivals in the neighborhood, barter markets, the groups of sustainable consumption, the assembly of parades or the Spanish
classes coinciding with the confinement of migrants against the law of foreigners. Many have been a constant; hundreds of concerts with
bands from all over the world, other hundreds of lectures, conferences and debates, some mythical ones like the meeting of the Libertarian
Radios or the Libertarian Athenians of the state in the first decade, or a multitude of artistic representations in the form of theater,
circus, painting or photography exhibitions that have occupied the walls of the meeting hall. And all those who arrived in recent years: the
Despensa Solidária, the fruit of the local 15M movement, the Tarantula theater company, the plastic arts workshops, the academy and boxing
classes, the transfer of Rádio ELA, the Mujeres Libres group or the respectful monitoring project La Tribu.

This path was taken with the same will, with which in 1980 a demonstration of the newly legalized CNT ended up recovering a building that
belonged to the union heritage that had been accumulated during the dictatorship. Since then, the libertarian movement has taken the
Athenaeum as a reference, being one of the oldest occupations in the state. It was the headquarters of the Anselmo Lorenzo Foundation, which
housed the archive and library on the third floor, the anarchist newspaper Tierra y Libertad, the libertarian student federations, and
solidarity with the prisoners. As well as a long list of struggles and voices that would be answered that took root in this place, and that
today they feel and care for it as if it were theirs.

See you soon at the Athenaeum!
