There is a controversy, a deep dilemma, debating which role, which are the roles of the Armed Forces in Latin America. A concept

realism, the Malvinas War fully demonstrated this hypothesis. In Central America, there were two paths. One, more formal, the Army was
transformed into a National Guard operating as an internal defense, or the maintenance of order. Another, less cynical, was the National
Guard of Somoza, of the dynasty of the three somozas, swept away with the Nicaraguan Revolution.
Another serious problem is nationalism, or the lack of it, or the notion of what "Latin American nationalism" would be. Our continent has a
deep dimension, of native peoples, resistant territories of African-American origin, unrelenting struggles of mixed poverty and which
modernization has not definitively incorporated. On the other hand, our countries have, to a greater or lesser degree - and Brazil to a very
high degree - a notion of "nationalism" where the nation is not the mirror of the people, of the peoples of Brazil, but rather a twisted
mirror of an elite reactionary, pathetic, colonized and submissive. It is really disgusting, including the high echelon of the armed forces,
whose most "sincere" version is the cream of the Pinochet militants,

Its creation arose from the need to coordinate defense efforts at the regional level in South America. It is logical, if the Armed Forces
Major States encourage and inflate regional competitions (such as Brazil X Argentina; Chile X Argentina; Peru X Chile, Bolíva X Paraguay;
Peru X Ecuador; Venezuela X Colombia, Venezuela X Republic of Guyana), the competition mentality in the same continental bloc reaches a
level of tensions like that already experienced in the '70s (in the Argentine and Chilean dispute), or in '90s (with Peruvians and
Ecuadorians declaring war). Although the subcontinent is a region considered peaceful, compared to other regions from a geopolitical point
of view, it has problems and bottlenecks, such as drug trafficking, modernization policies that do not give rise to arms races and the
creation of regional security policies that fit the peculiarities of the region. Therefore, if the School ultimately expanded
anti-imperialist views, failing to prioritize the security agendas of the Southern Command of the US Empire, it would already mean a
considerable advance.
EDSA was created with these problems in mind. At first, this body would be the space where military personnel from member countries would
complete their studies, aiming to answer these questions, with minimal interference or indoctrination from countries outside the reality and
specificities of South America[1]. In addition, this Military School would serve as a forum for the discussion of joint defense policies
among member countries, within the scope of the UNASUR Defense Council (Consejo de Defensa Suramericano in Spanish, acronym: CDS)[2].
Therefore, in maintaining the Union of Southern Nations and guaranteeing the coexistence of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our
America (ALBA) and the larger projection, the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), the School would be an anti -School
of the Americas, an attempt to counter the permanent influence of gringos and powers with imperialist tradition in the ranks of officers of
the armed forces of our Continent. It is important to understand that the more integrated, the lower the risk of falling into manipulations
by the CIA, DEA, FBI, NSA and other classic United States interference in our societies.
As we explained above, even without major conflicts since the Paraguayan War, between 1864 and 1870[3], South America experienced a series
of military conflicts throughout the 20th century. Although most of these conflagrations are of a border character, such as the Chaco War,
from 1932 to 1935 and more recently the Cenepa War, from 1995[4], there was still an armed confrontation involving a South American country
before a European imperialist power . This conflict, which occurred between April and June 1982, was the Malvinas / Falklands War, opposing
Argentina to the United Kingdom[5]. According to the logic of UNASUR-ALBA-CELAC, a conflict like the one in Malvinas would not be triggered
without the endorsement of the other member countries and even less would we tolerate more military dictatorships such as the Military Junta
that had promoted genocide against the population itself.
In addition to these experiences, drug trafficking in the 1990s proved to be a complex and almost insurmountable problem for countries in
the region, culminating in the US intervention in Colombia in the 1990s[6], through its support plan and equipment to the local government.
.We have also related to this problem, the bankruptcy of the Peruvian state, in the same decade, beset by President Fujimori's self-coup[7].
The security dynamics imposed by Plan Colombia are very worrying; the gringos' intention was to reverse the sending of resources - from the
retail trade to the country of the Medellín, Cali and Norte do Valle cartels; for, loans from gringos that alter the logic of Colombian
national sovereignty. Soon,
Based on this panorama, aggravated by the espionage scandal carried out by the NSA (National Security Agency), in 2013, Brazilian diplomacy
worked for the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR) to incorporate in its set of objectives, to take care of the training of military
personnel from the high ranking officials of the member countries[8]. As a result, EDSA was created, within the organizational umbrella of
the UNASUR Defense Council, in 2015[9]. As can be seen, the School was short-lived and arrived late, already at the turn of the correlation
of forces, with social democracy losing space in Brazil and Argentina and the election of Ecuador approaching the betrayal that came.
In terms of diplomatic articulation, Itamaraty operated well. In order to avoid criticism of the search for hegemony within UNASUR, which
would remove most members of the body, and as proof of good faith, Brazil supported the choice of the city of Quito, Ecuador to be the seat
of both Defense Council and the South American Defense School[10]. For Brazil, EDSA would aim, in addition to the aforementioned objectives,
to allow "clean" instruction from its senior officers (from majors to generals).
Clear of organizational, political and "ideological" influences that come largely from the studies carried out by these officers in places
like the Escola Superior de Guerra, a place markedly fond of ideas of geostrategic and ideological submission to the USA[11]. As a result of
the anti-integrational behavior of the Brazilian Armed Forces, which viewed (and do) with disdain and hostility towards UNASUR and its
defense agencies (CDS and EDSA), coupled with an exaggerated phobia of policies considered "Bolivarian", they wove hard and unfounded
criticism of EDSA and UNASUR as a whole[12]. As the conspiracy of the high military leadership advanced towards the coup threats on Twitter
and the "new right" as well as the "extreme right" grew, Brazilian diplomacy was running in parallel towards EDSA.
After the coup with the impeachment nickname of Dilma Rousseff (politically orchestrated, with a weak legal base) in April 2016, the country
started a process of removal and dehydration from UNASUR organizations, even affecting EDSA[13]. In April 2019, Brazil, together with
Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, definitively withdrew from the South American organization, marking the failure of the integration process and
transforming UNASUR into a tiny bloc, containing today Venezuela, Suriname and Guyana, with Peru having suspended its participation and
Bolivia having started the exit negotiations in November of the same year[14].
The abandonment of EDSA by Brazil and other former UNASUR members relegated the South American Military School to gigantic institutional
ostracism. Today, there is only one course given by the Escola Superior de Guerra, dated 2017[15]. No curriculum update information or if it
is still taught[16]. Also, the official EDSA website does not work, which contrasts with the abandonment of this entity by former and
current members[17].
With the establishment of partnerships between Colombia and Brazil with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), in 2018 and
2019[18,19]respectively, the continent is moving towards a greater departure from regional integration mechanisms, whether politically or in
defense and security. The choice of South American political and military elites by an international military organization with similar
mechanisms on the continent, with the added bonus of not having the neocolonial imposition of foreign leadership, demonstrates that
independence at the international level is not a priority.
Again the "ideological" component - that of subservience and not that of independence and autonomy -, added to the political disturbances
caused by groups and parties aligned with the right and extreme political right in Brazil (from 2015) and Bolivia (with the coup d'état)
2019), aligned with convenient governments with the dismantling of integration policies, as in Argentina (Macri Government) and Colombia
(successively since Plan Colombia, but with emphasis after the government of paramilitary and drug trafficker Álvaro Uribe Vélez and his
political heirs) undermined once again the political efforts for integration and the construction of a security environment more prone to
Latin American integration, the anti-imperialism and self-determination of our countries.
It is definitely the time for the group of left-wingers on this continent to understand once and for all that there is no "neutrality" in
the theme of the armed forces and it is not enough to leave them intact as we did in Brazil for 30 years of liberal democracy. The Castro
tradition in our countries is mostly colonial, post-colonial and submissive. The mutt complex, commanding regiments and military
organizations, is always damaging and as such must be rejected. As we know in our own territory, the idea that the forces of Caxias, Eduardo
Gomes and Tamandaré will defend popular sovereignty in Palmares and Pindorama is absurd. As José Gervasio Artigas, general of free men and
women, teaches us, "we can only count on ourselves".

western Thessaloniki, plans are added for the construction of Waste Treatment Units (WAS) in Ag. Antonios of Thermi and Mavrorachi of
Langadas, next to the landfill. In this way, the state and capital make it clear that they put profits above the health and lives of the

capitalist onslaught and the total destruction it is trying to impose, we must collectivize our struggles, in order to get rid of capitalism
once and for all, before it destroys the planet itself.

A well-attended virtual conference of the Anarchist Communist Group took place on October 3rd. ---- The conference was also attended by
representatives from the Aetoarea Workers' Solidarity Movement (Aetoarea/New Zealand) and Die Platform (Germany). The Melbourne Anarchist
Communist Group was also invited to attend, but was unable to do so. A fruitful discussion took place on current situations in UK, NZ and

Trotsky- the Truth about Trotsky, a short, and free pamphlet aimed partly at current and former members of the Labour Party- Appeal to the
Young, the Third Revolution, about workers and peasants uprisings against the Bolsheviks, a reprint of the Organisational Platform of the
Libertarian Communists, as well as two new pamphlets on Food, and ones on Populism, Antifascism, ID Politics, and on Racism.
It was also decided to begin a series of online public meetings to be called At the Café with the Anarchist Communists. The first of these

The occupations, demonstrations and conflicts of the class student movement show us the way of the militant resistance against the existing

There is a controversy, a deep dilemma, debating which role, which are the roles of the Armed Forces in Latin America. A concept

transformed into a National Guard operating as an internal defense, or the maintenance of order. Another, less cynical, was the National
Guard of Somoza, of the dynasty of the three somozas, swept away with the Nicaraguan Revolution.
Another serious problem is nationalism, or the lack of it, or the notion of what "Latin American nationalism" would be. Our continent has a
deep dimension, of native peoples, resistant territories of African-American origin, unrelenting struggles of mixed poverty and which
modernization has not definitively incorporated. On the other hand, our countries have, to a greater or lesser degree - and Brazil to a very
high degree - a notion of "nationalism" where the nation is not the mirror of the people, of the peoples of Brazil, but rather a twisted
mirror of an elite reactionary, pathetic, colonized and submissive. It is really disgusting, including the high echelon of the armed forces,
whose most "sincere" version is the cream of the Pinochet militants,

Its creation arose from the need to coordinate defense efforts at the regional level in South America. It is logical, if the Armed Forces
Major States encourage and inflate regional competitions (such as Brazil X Argentina; Chile X Argentina; Peru X Chile, Bolíva X Paraguay;
Peru X Ecuador; Venezuela X Colombia, Venezuela X Republic of Guyana), the competition mentality in the same continental bloc reaches a
level of tensions like that already experienced in the '70s (in the Argentine and Chilean dispute), or in '90s (with Peruvians and
Ecuadorians declaring war). Although the subcontinent is a region considered peaceful, compared to other regions from a geopolitical point
of view, it has problems and bottlenecks, such as drug trafficking, modernization policies that do not give rise to arms races and the
creation of regional security policies that fit the peculiarities of the region. Therefore, if the School ultimately expanded
anti-imperialist views, failing to prioritize the security agendas of the Southern Command of the US Empire, it would already mean a
considerable advance.
EDSA was created with these problems in mind. At first, this body would be the space where military personnel from member countries would
complete their studies, aiming to answer these questions, with minimal interference or indoctrination from countries outside the reality and
specificities of South America[1]. In addition, this Military School would serve as a forum for the discussion of joint defense policies
among member countries, within the scope of the UNASUR Defense Council (Consejo de Defensa Suramericano in Spanish, acronym: CDS)[2].
Therefore, in maintaining the Union of Southern Nations and guaranteeing the coexistence of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our
America (ALBA) and the larger projection, the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), the School would be an anti -School
of the Americas, an attempt to counter the permanent influence of gringos and powers with imperialist tradition in the ranks of officers of
the armed forces of our Continent. It is important to understand that the more integrated, the lower the risk of falling into manipulations
by the CIA, DEA, FBI, NSA and other classic United States interference in our societies.
As we explained above, even without major conflicts since the Paraguayan War, between 1864 and 1870[3], South America experienced a series
of military conflicts throughout the 20th century. Although most of these conflagrations are of a border character, such as the Chaco War,
from 1932 to 1935 and more recently the Cenepa War, from 1995[4], there was still an armed confrontation involving a South American country
before a European imperialist power . This conflict, which occurred between April and June 1982, was the Malvinas / Falklands War, opposing
Argentina to the United Kingdom[5]. According to the logic of UNASUR-ALBA-CELAC, a conflict like the one in Malvinas would not be triggered
without the endorsement of the other member countries and even less would we tolerate more military dictatorships such as the Military Junta
that had promoted genocide against the population itself.
In addition to these experiences, drug trafficking in the 1990s proved to be a complex and almost insurmountable problem for countries in
the region, culminating in the US intervention in Colombia in the 1990s[6], through its support plan and equipment to the local government.
.We have also related to this problem, the bankruptcy of the Peruvian state, in the same decade, beset by President Fujimori's self-coup[7].
The security dynamics imposed by Plan Colombia are very worrying; the gringos' intention was to reverse the sending of resources - from the
retail trade to the country of the Medellín, Cali and Norte do Valle cartels; for, loans from gringos that alter the logic of Colombian
national sovereignty. Soon,
Based on this panorama, aggravated by the espionage scandal carried out by the NSA (National Security Agency), in 2013, Brazilian diplomacy
worked for the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR) to incorporate in its set of objectives, to take care of the training of military
personnel from the high ranking officials of the member countries[8]. As a result, EDSA was created, within the organizational umbrella of
the UNASUR Defense Council, in 2015[9]. As can be seen, the School was short-lived and arrived late, already at the turn of the correlation
of forces, with social democracy losing space in Brazil and Argentina and the election of Ecuador approaching the betrayal that came.
In terms of diplomatic articulation, Itamaraty operated well. In order to avoid criticism of the search for hegemony within UNASUR, which
would remove most members of the body, and as proof of good faith, Brazil supported the choice of the city of Quito, Ecuador to be the seat
of both Defense Council and the South American Defense School[10]. For Brazil, EDSA would aim, in addition to the aforementioned objectives,
to allow "clean" instruction from its senior officers (from majors to generals).
Clear of organizational, political and "ideological" influences that come largely from the studies carried out by these officers in places
like the Escola Superior de Guerra, a place markedly fond of ideas of geostrategic and ideological submission to the USA[11]. As a result of
the anti-integrational behavior of the Brazilian Armed Forces, which viewed (and do) with disdain and hostility towards UNASUR and its
defense agencies (CDS and EDSA), coupled with an exaggerated phobia of policies considered "Bolivarian", they wove hard and unfounded
criticism of EDSA and UNASUR as a whole[12]. As the conspiracy of the high military leadership advanced towards the coup threats on Twitter
and the "new right" as well as the "extreme right" grew, Brazilian diplomacy was running in parallel towards EDSA.
After the coup with the impeachment nickname of Dilma Rousseff (politically orchestrated, with a weak legal base) in April 2016, the country
started a process of removal and dehydration from UNASUR organizations, even affecting EDSA[13]. In April 2019, Brazil, together with
Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, definitively withdrew from the South American organization, marking the failure of the integration process and
transforming UNASUR into a tiny bloc, containing today Venezuela, Suriname and Guyana, with Peru having suspended its participation and
Bolivia having started the exit negotiations in November of the same year[14].
The abandonment of EDSA by Brazil and other former UNASUR members relegated the South American Military School to gigantic institutional
ostracism. Today, there is only one course given by the Escola Superior de Guerra, dated 2017[15]. No curriculum update information or if it
is still taught[16]. Also, the official EDSA website does not work, which contrasts with the abandonment of this entity by former and
current members[17].
With the establishment of partnerships between Colombia and Brazil with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), in 2018 and
2019[18,19]respectively, the continent is moving towards a greater departure from regional integration mechanisms, whether politically or in
defense and security. The choice of South American political and military elites by an international military organization with similar
mechanisms on the continent, with the added bonus of not having the neocolonial imposition of foreign leadership, demonstrates that
independence at the international level is not a priority.
Again the "ideological" component - that of subservience and not that of independence and autonomy -, added to the political disturbances
caused by groups and parties aligned with the right and extreme political right in Brazil (from 2015) and Bolivia (with the coup d'état)
2019), aligned with convenient governments with the dismantling of integration policies, as in Argentina (Macri Government) and Colombia
(successively since Plan Colombia, but with emphasis after the government of paramilitary and drug trafficker Álvaro Uribe Vélez and his
political heirs) undermined once again the political efforts for integration and the construction of a security environment more prone to
Latin American integration, the anti-imperialism and self-determination of our countries.
It is definitely the time for the group of left-wingers on this continent to understand once and for all that there is no "neutrality" in
the theme of the armed forces and it is not enough to leave them intact as we did in Brazil for 30 years of liberal democracy. The Castro
tradition in our countries is mostly colonial, post-colonial and submissive. The mutt complex, commanding regiments and military
organizations, is always damaging and as such must be rejected. As we know in our own territory, the idea that the forces of Caxias, Eduardo
Gomes and Tamandaré will defend popular sovereignty in Palmares and Pindorama is absurd. As José Gervasio Artigas, general of free men and
women, teaches us, "we can only count on ourselves".

Specifically in Thessaloniki, in the burning of waste in the cement industry TITAN for the past years and the air pollution from EL.PE. in
western Thessaloniki, plans are added for the construction of Waste Treatment Units (WAS) in Ag. Antonios of Thermi and Mavrorachi of
Langadas, next to the landfill. In this way, the state and capital make it clear that they put profits above the health and lives of the
inhabitants.
However, local communities are organizing, resisting and creating hotbeds of struggle against the destruction of the natural world and the
degradation of lives that they try to impose on local and foreign bosses. State repression, as a true protector of capital, strikes these
struggles, as happened a few months ago in the march against the burning of garbage in Volos. From Volos and Stagiates to Crete, Halkidiki,

useless at all. To forget the great moral, spiritual and intellectual destruction that arises. To the long scar on our collective soul that
Graeber was trying to heal...
Finally, there were personal memories of Greaber, when someone told him how he met him in Leipzig, and someone said that when he wrote a
question to him as an activist, David always wrote to him within almost half an hour, while when he wrote to him as an academic , he usually

A well-attended virtual conference of the Anarchist Communist Group took place on October 3rd. ---- The conference was also attended by
representatives from the Aetoarea Workers' Solidarity Movement (Aetoarea/New Zealand) and Die Platform (Germany). The Melbourne Anarchist
Communist Group was also invited to attend, but was unable to do so. A fruitful discussion took place on current situations in UK, NZ and
Germany and it was agreed to continue future cooperation. ---- A discussion on the general situation also took place. ---- Amongst other
business, the ACG agreed to produce a second issue of its theoretical magazine, now renamed Stormy Petrel. This will be available in early
November in both hard copy and on-line.
We also finalised our programme of publishing pamphlets. Future titles will include pamphlets on the Kronstadt uprising of 1921, another on
Trotsky- the Truth about Trotsky, a short, and free pamphlet aimed partly at current and former members of the Labour Party- Appeal to the
Young, the Third Revolution, about workers and peasants uprisings against the Bolsheviks, a reprint of the Organisational Platform of the
Libertarian Communists, as well as two new pamphlets on Food, and ones on Populism, Antifascism, ID Politics, and on Racism.
It was also decided to begin a series of online public meetings to be called At the Café with the Anarchist Communists. The first of these
will be for November 4th on the Labour Party.
In addition, details for the ACG's annual Day School were finalised. This will also be online and its topic will be Nationalism. It is
scheduled for December 7th.
It was also agreed to produce 5,000 copies of a number of new designs for ACG stickers.
There was an enthusiastic atmosphere at the conference and ACG members went away from it feeling freshly encouraged to develop the
activities and politics of the organisation.

The occupations, demonstrations and conflicts of the class student movement show us the way of the militant resistance against the existing
state and capitalist barbarism. The youth do not reconcile themselves with the prospect of being deprived of their future and of being
condemned to poverty by those in political and economic power. Unappointed and substitute teachers have been outraged by government layoffs,
unemployment and underpaid recycling. The knot has reached the scallop! We can not tolerate the mockery and class plunder launched by the
government at the request of its capitalist agents, because - quite simply - we can not continue to live and work in these conditions, under
these conditions.
The education front is another area in which social and class conflict is raging. Workers from many different industries have "reached the
amen" with the escalation of the capitalist crisis and the aftermath of government management of the Covid-19 pandemic. The rage and
indignation we feel must be expressed collectively, in order for it to take place and bear fruit. To organize in unions, class initiatives
and other formations of resistance and struggle in the workplace, in schools, in schools and in our neighborhoods. To unite with those who
have a common destiny, common problems and concerns, common material interests and "boil" together in the same cauldron. No savior can solve
our problems on our behalf.
The power, however, is in the hands of those who are at the base of the social and productive pyramid, that is, in the majority portion of
society as a whole. If we realize this, then we can take advantage of the enormous potential that all of us who move this world through our
work and toil every day have, as well as those who are destined to perform this role based on the demands of the capitalist system. But this
moment of self-awareness is enough to take the next step, to organize, that is, on a class basis, to fight collectively, relentlessly and
relentlessly, to achieve important victories that will temporarily relieve us and finally to try to " we bring the whole world, to change it
fundamentally. Because we deserve a world for all and not for a few, a society governed by freedom, equality, solidarity, co-ownership and
