 As members of the trade unions of journalists and media workers, we strongly

condemn the introduction of a state of emergency in the border areas and oppose
the plans to remove journalists from these areas, as well as any equipment that
helps them fulfill their professional duties. ---- We consider it unacceptable to
limit the right to information of residents of border areas, as well as of the
general public of Polish society - and such will be the consequences of removing
journalists. We also do not see any rational reasons for introducing temporary
and local censorship, and our particular concern is the practical prohibition of
looking at the hands of the authorities, also in such a delicate matter as
respecting human rights. We consider the assurances of the Ministry of Interior
and Administration about passing on information to the media as valuable,
although completely insufficient to build a complete picture of the situation at
the border.

Journalists do not hinder the work of Border Guard officers in any way, do not
spread disinformation, and are not a party to any conflict. We strongly reject
any such suggestion. The task of journalists is to inform and document events,
today also on the eastern border. The removal of journalists is a threat to
Poland's security, as it deprives the public of access to independent sources of
information. This leaves room for Belarusian propaganda, which will be able to
spread disinformation in these areas, as well as among the entire society, with
impunity.

We do not agree to this.
