#WORLD #WORLDWIDE #EU #POLAND #BELARUS #ANARCHISM #News #Journal #Update - (en) Poland, rozbrat: A HUMANITARIAN CRISIS, NOT A REFUGEE - REPORT FROM THE PROTEST [machine translation]

In response to the ongoing humanitarian crisis on the Polish-Belarusian border,

last Sunday, a protest took place in Poznan in response to this situation. The
action initiated by the Food Instead of Bombs collective was combined with a
weekly distribution of food and clothes to people in need and in a homeless
crisis. Today, however, the main goal was to express its solidarity with refugees
and opposition to the policies of the government and the European Union. The
policy of the state of emergency, sealing the border, building barbed-wire
barriers, preventing relief efforts has now resulted in the death of at least
five people (remember that these are the only confirmed cases we know about -
which in an information blockade does not have to be a final number).

Keywords Refugees Belarus Lukashenka No Border No man is illegal
During the protest, it was emphasized that the situation at the border was mainly
a humanitarian crisis. Both the Polish and European Union authorities can accept
and help people fleeing from areas affected by hostilities or politically
unstable. The Polish authorities have contributed to the present situation to a
large extent, for example by participating in wars and military operations in
Iraq or Afghanistan. Today, those regions still affected by military operations
are not safe, and their inhabitants have the right to seek shelter and help also
in Poland.
People who had to flee from political persecution in Belarus also spoke at the
protest. It was reiterated that the regime of Lukashenka, which represses and
imprisons its own citizens, is in no way willing to provide support and
assistance to refugees. Belarus is not a safe country. This is evidenced by
political prisoners and people who had to leave the country for fear of
reprisals. Also in relation to their situation, solidarity actions and protests
are needed.

During the protest, it was emphasized that violating the Geneva Convention and
not helping refugees is an action that will also affect society as a whole. If
the authorities are allowed to circumvent the law, creating a category of people
excluded from its protection, it only facilitates building a state that is ready
to repress other groups of citizens as well.

It was emphasized that the situation at the border was part of the policy of the
European Union, which in this way only showed its own ineptitude. We could
observe similar inhumane methods of operation both on the Greek border and in the
Mediterranean. The policy of a European fortress is not working and can only lead
to an increase in its death toll.

It was emphasized that the climate crisis, which we, as a society, also have our
hands on, also generates and will continue to generate new groups of refugees.
Lack of access to water in some areas is already visible and felt. So do the
natural disasters of climate change, which increase in tandem with the
progression of climate change.

The culmination of the protest was a march from the monument of Old Marych to
Plac Wolnosci. There, candles were lit under the delegation of the Provincial
Office for Foreigners and with a minute of silence, the deaths from the
Polish-Belarusian border were commemorated

The following content of the appeal was read at the demonstration:

The humanitarian crisis in the form of the criminal actions of the Polish and
Belarusian authorities against migrants and migrant women on the border cannot be
ignored any longer. The authorities make it difficult for us to provide direct
help and gather information on the details of the situation of people who suffer
and die because of the deliberate, soulless, calculated actions of these
authorities. The situation is critical, we must protest, exert pressure and
publicize!!!

During our protest, we want to give the floor to refugees and refugees, migrants
and migrants, as well as their relatives. We invite you to comment!

We are from the bottom-up Granica group. We help people who find themselves on
the Polish-Belarusian border, as well as analyze and publicize the situation.

Polish UNHCR and the Polish Red Cross are not on the spot, do not provide
assistance to refugees at the border and do not react properly to the current
circumstances. We ask for your support.

Pro-refugee actions and demonstrations are needed in front of Polish and
Belarusian consulates in Poland and in the rest of Europe. Any protest action
will be helpful. CURRENTLY WE ARE FACING THE HUMANITARIAN CRISIS.

The Polish government systematically breaks the assumptions of the Geneva
Convention. It guarantees the right to submit an application for international
protection to every person who applies for it - regardless of where the border is
crossed! From the moment of submitting the declaration, a procedure should begin
to ensure the safety of this person and others.
Currently, the Polish government uses a push-back strategy. This is an illegal
and brutal practice of withdrawing refugees under the guns of Belarusian troops.
These services are implementing exactly the same tactic, pushing the refugees
back to the Polish side. As a consequence, exhausted people are constantly chased
from one side to the other. Temperatures in the east of Poland are decreasing day
by day, which will result in an increasing number of deaths due to hypothermia,
hunger and fatigue. This situation probably affects hundreds of people.

THE MIGRATION ROUTE THROUGH BELARUS IS NOT SAFE!
We need your support in the form of pressure on the Polish authorities!
Nobody is illegal! Solidarity is our weapon!
