While the trial of 7 anti-fascist activists will begin, indicted without
complaints by the alleged victims, for acts of willful violence in meetings andgroups with a view to preparing for violence ; we activists from the La PlumeNoire bookstore and the UCL wish to denounce the complacency of the police andjustice in Lyon towards the acts of violence of the extreme right. ---- As areminder, our library has been targeted several times by far-right activists andhas suffered several violent attacks in 5 years: ---- In November 2016, while agathering of fundamentalist Catholics banned by the Prefecture was held at PlaceColbert, militants equipped with attack equipment and identified as belonging toseveral extreme right-wing groups were quietly left by the forces of the orderthroughout the gathering. At the end of it, they were able to descend the slopesof the Croix-Rousse, wait for the police to leave the premises and go up to aboutthirty in the direction of our bookstore. Having free rein, they violentlyattacked and smashed the windows of our room trying to get inside. Theself-defense of the comrades inside made it possible to avoid the worst. Theattackers were able to leave quietly, claiming their attack without being worried.In December 2020, two volunteers from the PESE association were beaten up whenthey closed the bookstore at the end of a day of collecting toys for the end ofyear celebrations. Despite two complaints filed and the very clear brand of thefar-right, the two complainants are still awaiting news of the investigation.In March 2021, it was in the middle of the afternoon, at 2 p.m., during theopening of a food drive from the same PESE association, that the bookstore wasstormed by some fifty fascists. The windows gave way under the attacks and thethrowing of cobblestones but once again, the comrades on the spot were able toavoid any intrusion. The video of the attack made the rounds of the media: thefascists were able to leave quietly without separating, take pictures with abanner stolen from the front of the bookstore and return to Vieux Lyon. Fairlyrecently, the far right claimed the act again with one of their video uploaded tothe neo-Nazi West Casual site. The police had controlled the previous week aboutthirty fascists, preventing them from taking action, but this time,On these two attacks and the assault on the 2 volunteers, complaints were filed.We inquired through a lawyer to find out the status of these complaints. Theresult, even if it does not surprise us, is enough to renew our indignation:the 2021 complaint was dismissed as at least 2 far-right activists were clearlyidentified on the videos by the complainants.the 2016 complaint and those of December 2020 were not recorded in court andremained in the drawers of the police station ! No investigation has taken place !These facts clearly demonstrate one thing: the police and the courts of Lyon areprotecting the extreme right in Lyon despite the evidence ; and they go afteranti-fascist activists, union activists, association activists !
