A mourning procession was held in Berlin commemorating the losses caused by
gentrification ---- On Sunday afternoon, December 5, an unconventional mourningprocession took place in the streets of Berlin's Friedrichshein. Several hundredparticipants remembered the people, spaces and neighborhoods they had lost as aresult of gentrification. The participants of the parade, led by a band playingmourning songs, recalled squats, non-commercial businesses and self-governingsocial centers cleared in the last few years through pickets and banners, butalso the names of specific people who froze on the street or died of healthcomplications associated with forced evictions.There were many names and names they remembered.
