The newly appointed Minister of Agriculture, Lech Kolakowski, announced at the
beginning of December 2021 the "introduction of new forms of depopulation" of
wild boars in Poland and their "maximum reduction", 1,000 professional hunters
are to be appointed for this task. So would hunting be a new profession??
This is another law planned forcibly by the Ministry of Agriculture, led by Lech
Kolakowski - without a scientific debate, without public consultations, although
it will also concern the limitation of civil rights in the use of the common
good, i.e. forests. The new special act of Kolakowski will not solve the problem
of the ASF virus among wild boars, on the contrary, it will be a sham action and
a sham. We know very well that humans are the vector for transmission of the ASF
virus to the pig house, not the wild. Neither Ardanowski's special act, nor now
Kolakowski, will stop anti-hunting movements from stopping hunting monitoring and
signaling the public that hunters are breaking the biosecurity rules. We know
from the short history of PiS rule that special acts pose a serious threat to the
life and health of other forest users: walkers, mushroom pickers, cyclists, pets
and children. We often hear in the media nonsensical explanations of hunters that
he "mistook him for a wild boar": a wife, child, dog, and even a 16-year-old
student from Kazakhstan picking apples in an orchard.
So once again: we do not agree to take away the common good of forests and the
animals that live in them.
Let us express our radical opposition to the plans for the maximum depopulation
