 On April 29 and 30, and May 1 and 2, we will celebrate the First Anarchist

Biennial in Madrid. ---- The Madrid Anarchist Biennial was born with the aim of
connecting libertarian theories and practices, leaving our confined spaces and
building real alternatives with which we can enrich ourselves in our quest for
radical social transformation. ---- Although we find ourselves in a moment of
blockade and demobilization, currently we can find collectives, individuals and
communities that exemplify the anti-authoritarian and horizontal ideal through
their struggles. These experiments challenge established power and dismantle the
increasingly widespread idea that anarchist practices should be relegated to the
history books as failed, romantic examples of outdated, utopian theories.

In this current moment of social control in which revolutionary struggles are in
full retreat, we see it as a priority to share and debate these experiences. Our
intention is that they encourage us and provide us with new tools to get out of
the pit in which a whole tradition of struggle in our city seems to be drowning.
Faced with what we understand as a new capitalist restructuring, many of us
believe it is necessary to create a space that brings together these experiences
that are alive today, that fight against racial, gender, class and environmental
oppression... and that build, day after day, , new ways of understanding and
living reality that are more just, egalitarian and horizontal.

For this reason, our project is to hold a conference every two springs, bringing
together books, testimonies, interviews, debates and any communication strategy
that can help us move along this path.

Given the current situation, we will start this journey with a series of small
conversations and interviews, which will serve to introduce the project and
connect with the experiences of current struggles. These talks, scheduled for
October 2020 and January 2021, will be conducted (given the current situation) in
digital format.

We hope to provide an impetus and tools that help to reactivate the forces of
contestation in our neighborhoods and foster
