Bourgeois "democracy" and "independent justice" again violate the laws
themselves, on the basis of political criteria. As always, the aim is twofold: on
the one hand, to terrorize those who still insist on resisting capitalist and
state domination, on exploitation and oppression. On the other hand, the "joy"
that seems to be taken by some barbaric little people, from the raw vengeful
violence they exercise from a position of (institutional) power, to those who
have challenged and are questioning their power. ---- This time, it is the turn
of the imprisoned comrade G. Michailidis to enter the crosshairs of "democracy"
and "justice". As the companion states in his announcement on 23/5/2022: "On
December 29, 2021, having served 3/5 of my 20-year sentence and 2/5 of the escape
sentence, a total of 8 years and 3 months real time sentence, the prison
secretariat invites me to sign the application for parole as provided. Reaching
the last episode, I, in turn, faced the regular tactics of the penitentiary
mechanism to avenge the unruly prisoners by refusing to grant suspensions,
despite the essential condition of successful attendance at my school (preventing
me from completing it) and that I have already found a job. Again with a legal
window... This time with the argument of potentially dangerous... that is
precautionary ". In an earlier statement, he stressed: "I have fulfilled the
formal conditions of release for all my sentences. Today 22/2/2022, I was
informed about the decision of the Amfissa Misdemeanor Council regarding my
request for release from prison. Judges Smaragda Moraitis (President), Ioannis
Gatzias (Misdemeanor - Rapporteur) and Konstantinos Mantzavinos (Judicial
Assistant) ruled that I did not meet the essential conditions for release from
prison. The truth is that I was expecting this extra unjustified detention that
is being used informally by the judicial mafia to punish choices that in the
opinion of some judges are not adequately punished by law, such as the choice of
escape (for which of course I have served the disciplinary penalty as well as the
detention penalty that does not merge). In order to justify this irregularity,
the pretext is used that the detainee "does not meet the essential conditions as
there is a risk of committing new crimes". "It is, of course, an Orwellian
dystopia, according to which I am a prisoner, not because I am serving a sentence
for an act, but precautionarily, as the thought police considered that there is a
risk of new crimes, without the time horizon of a court where events will be judged."

The partner, in order to claim the obvious, that is, to abide by the law and to
be released from prison, after 5 additional months of pre-trial detention,
started a hunger strike on 23/5/2022.

Of course, for the world of struggle, the violation of the legal framework by the
very institutions of "justice" and the self-abolition of "democracy" are not
surprising. It is now a given that anyone who practically challenges capitalism
but also the monopoly of state violence is condemned and will continue to be
condemned by multiple means: copperplate evidence, zero-reliability DNA test,
testimonies of cops and counter-terrorism officials, criminalizing personal
relationships to criminalize militants in prison, solitary confinement,
deprivation of education or regular leave, 18 months of unreported pre-trial
detention, refusal to be released for medical reasons, and even attempted
deprivation of children of detainees after entering prison, multiple new
prosecutions with non-existent charges against those who manage to prove the
ridiculousness of the anti-terrorism charges and (eventually) are released from
prison. The list of comrades / equals and competitors / women who were faced with
the fury of the state is long: Koufontinas, Roupa, Maziotis, T. Theofilou,
Periklis, Iriana, Seisidis, Sirinidis, Sakkas, Aspiotis, Tsironidos, Romanikos,
Romanos Christodoulou, Sotiropoulou, Tsakalou, Statiri, M. Theofilou and many
more were called to "prove that they are not elephants".

Each case has its own peculiarities. Each persecuted expresses a special
political content. For the oppressed, no matter what political content they may
identify with, what matters is that each of these cases, but also all together,
demonstrates the essential political core beneath the surface of "impartiality"
that civil justice claims for herself. This political core produces a gray zone
of self-appeal of the "rule of law", which depending on the situation can be
significantly expanded. In recent years, then, we have witnessed a systematic
attack through the mobilization of an entire mechanism: photographic laws,
"review" of court decisions simply to deprive detainees of their legal rights,
convictions without evidence,

The attack on the state and capital is comprehensive, continuous and
intensifying. It is now obvious to everyone and everyone. The criminal management
of the pandemic with the complete indifference to the social base, with the sole
compass of their profit and the further privatization of the NSS, the abolition
of labor rights won through struggles, the destruction of the natural
environment, the unthinkable increase of the cost of living, the intensifying
devaluation of our lives in short, leaves no room for misinterpretation. But
neither is there room for complacency or resignation on our part. Knowing, of
course, that the state and its repressive mechanisms are hitting harder and
harder those who dare to resist.

It is the responsibility of all of us to stand by the political prisoners, in the
face of any attempt to circumvent their rights, aimed at both exterminating them
and consolidating an exemption regime for all and all militants who may be in
their place. From the first moment, solidarity rallies in the hunger strike, G.
Michailidis were created, while a series of rallies, interventions, banner
posters, posters and other actions take place every day. At the same time, the
anarchist prisoners G. Voulgaris and T. Hatziangelou started, on 11/6, a
week-long hunger strike, on the side of comrade Giannis Michailidis.

That is why on Friday night we carried out an intervention with sprays and
posters at the house of Chrysostomos Tsatsoulis, at 3 Delmouzou Street, who is in
charge of ONNED Thessaloniki organizations and one of the 15 elected ONED
representatives in the political committee of New Democracy, in a sign of
solidarity with the anarchist Giannis Michailidis who has been on a hunger strike
since 23/5, claiming the obvious: to abide by the law and be released from
prison, after 5 additional months of pre-trial detention.

In the face of the thousand faces of their "democracy", no comrade and no comrade
is alone. Because for us, solidarity with political prisoners is non-negotiable
and a basic foundation of any liberation action.
