 The month of June triggers, across the globe, a series of actions alluding to the

struggles of the community of Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, Transvestites,
Transsexuals, Queers, Intersex, Asexuals and other political groups that organize
their struggle for life based on defense of their gender identities and sexual
orientation. The great acronym, which represents so many experiences and
political bodies, results from an accumulation of debates and clashes generated
in the social confrontations of resistance of these and these protagonists. ----
Internationally, June 28th constitutes a significant milestone for our community,
as it recalls the episode that took place at the Stonewall Inn bar, in the
suburbs of New York City, USA, in 1969. The LGBTQIA+ community, Latino, black
community and artists such as performers and drag queens who frequented the space
- a stronghold of expression of life - faced the police in yet another
confrontation. This time, they expelled the New York police, advancing, in the
following days, to what in the near future would become the consolidation of the
LGBT movement in American lands and the expansion of street occupations (hence
called parades).
 From political explosions that occur in the ghettos of numerous cities, the
parades, in turn, are articulated and led mostly by people of color and Latin
American origin. Just look at the leading role of Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia
Rivera, transgender women from the black and Latino communities and working poor.
The political explosion was marked by the confluence of countless other
oppressions. Raciality, territory and class were the combustion that also drove
the actions of these women.
By bringing these struggles closer to the Brazilian and Latin American context,
we find countless other episodes of resistance that need to be reaffirmed and
remembered by our community. Examples are the mobilizations of the
Lesbian-Feminist Action Group (GALF) in the 1980s; the confrontations between the
Chana newspaper and Chana in São Paulo; the creation, in 1978, of Somos in São
Paulo and the organization of the Brazilian Homosexual Movement (MHB) and the
newspaper "Lampião da Esquina", materials and groups that assiduously fought
against the dictatorial regime in the country; the reception of black and
northeastern queers and the confrontations organized by Madame Satã, a black
queer from Pernambuco who set up a network of confrontation, defense and work in
the city of Rio de Janeiro, between the 1950s and 1970s; the creation of Grupo
Gay da Bahia (GGB), in 1980, which is the oldest uninterrupted space for the LGBT
community in Latin America, focusing on black issues and how the movement was
still configured as a elitist and white space.
These small rescues of the groups and episodes that forge our history need to be
demarcated and constantly remembered, since, over the years, the LGBTQIA+
movement has been going through a romanticization and glamorization of its
effective agendas, losing the core of which they are lives. suffocated and
trampled underfoot by patriarchy, machismo, sexism and capitalism. In Brazil, as
much as there was an approximation of the intellectual and academic universe, the
main organizations and historical contexts of mobilization of our community also
happened with those from below in the driving force of our history of struggle
and resistance. Furthermore, unlike the context of the countries of the global
north, the evidence of our struggles occurred in an abrupt and violent period
against the people, of direct persecution of our community. During the military
dictatorship, which took place in Brazil between 1964 and 1984, all these people
and groups mentioned above served as a refuge and barricade for our people.
Today, we are faced with a political emptying of why and for whom we are
fighting. This year, for example, the largest LGBTQIA+ parade in the country
defines, in its organizational summit, that nothing related to the country's
politics and conjuncture should be mentioned in the trios. Something shameful,
precisely, in a country that kills an LGBTQIA+ every 29 hours, for their sexual
orientation or gender identity. Deaths caused by the system that regulates
surveillance and persecution of who we are, based on the cruel and brutal culture
of heteronormativity as an essence within the apparatus of capital and the logic
of a monogamous and heterosexual nuclear family.
Therefore, we understand that the resumption of articulated struggles must always
be said and evidenced. Struggles, in their singularities of expression, history
and life, only become organic when they are able to meet the problems and
landlords that plague us.

Struggle without solidarity between oppressed people who are unable to articulate
the political and economic scenario are emptied because they fragment and fall
into the individuality of survival and not the construction of a new world policy
and project that strengthens everyone and not just a few. Without this horizon,
the distance from our struggle and our recognition as an oppressed social class
only weakens us, while a herd without gates tramples ours and ours in the most
virile and disgusting way possible.
Rescuing the boldness of our manas is urgent! Awakening rebellion among our monas
and mines is fair. Against the politics of hunger and death that knocks at our
heels and doors every day, let us organize and support our self-defense,
solidarity, shoulder to shoulder with LGBTQIA+ people, poor and black.
