If the PMA for lesbian couples is a political victory, it remains insufficient.
We won't let go until the PMA is open to everyone. During the lastExisTransInter, which saw a record mobilization for the rights of trans andintersex people, autonomy in terms of sexual and reproductive rights was one ofthe demands put forward. Despite the mobilizations, the Constitutional Councilconfirms the exclusion of transmasculine people from PMA under the pretext ofequality between men and women. What equality are we talking about when transpeople are denied access to assisted reproduction on the basis of their civilstatus sex, which leads to an absurd situation where trans people have to choosebetween having their identity papers or access to parenthood. Where is the famousequality behind which the Constitutional Council hides when transfeminine peopleare denied the possibility of self-preservation of their gametes?My body, my choiceThe exclusion of trans people from assisted reproduction is a deliberate choiceby the state to control trans parenting. But regardless of the laws, transparenthood exists. Today, transmasculine people have to resort to home-mademethods or travel to countries where MAP is not prohibited for transmasculinepeople, such as Belgium, Spain, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Portugal or evenDenmark. The forced sterilization of trans people to have access to the change ofmarital status was only lifted in 2016, the control of trans bodies must end. Weare not fooled by the transphobic eugenics of the state. Families that do notconform to cis-heteropatriarchy are still discriminated against and controlled bythe state. We demand that trans, non-binary, intersex people have the same accessto parenthood as cis people.What demands for an LDC really for all?To abolish cisheteropatriarchy, we must abolish its privileges. The struggle forassisted reproduction is a question of justice and a question of class.
