We are publishing a new work this summer: the Anarchist Dictionary for Children.
Using definitions, comparisons and metaphors, this little book aims to introducerebellious young minds to anarchism. The book is self-produced. We willdistribute a limited quantity by our own means during the next events and withinour networks. Libraries, educational settings and other alternative places opento children/adolescents, as well as classmates who would like to obtain a copy, can express their interest by e-mail (cegsaglac@riseup.net). Also, contact usfairly quickly if you would like to organize a launch in your area. The book uses the magnificent illustrations of a book published in Chile by JorgeEnkis with his permission. Some passages have also been translated and adaptedfrom Spanish. The rest is new content produced by the Emma Goldman AnarchistCollective. Like the original work, we have sought to appeal to the realitiescloser to children living in the territories of Nitassinan and so-called Quebec. Each of the definitions is embellished with a drawing and presents a libertarianperspective on a wide range of questions that will feed the curiosity of theyoungest.Educational and pedagogical use of the dictionaryThis book aims to fuel critical thinking and raise questions in children. Itsformat and texts can be similar to books generally intended for children aged 9and over. The "5-finger method", where the child counts the number of unknownwords on a page chosen at random to check the reading level, is not suitable forthis since it is a dictionary; he/she can sail there in disorder by followinghis/her fields of interest. It is educationally relevant to accompany the childin his discovery of the book. The definitions sometimes go against the grain ofwhat is generally understood. We can bring the child to observe this gap in therepresentations which is rich in questions. Other texts will lead her to thinkabout new issues and realities for her/him. The role of the guide is thus to askquestions about the child's understanding, to lead him to make connections withhis own reality and to support his curiosity. The child does not need to agreewith everything and that's fine! In fact, that's definitely not the point of thisreading. Rather, it is about raising questions that may, sooner or later, giverise to new concerns and ideas. And maybe not... In this case, the child will atleast have learned that there are different ways of seeing the issues presentedand that it is possible to doubt, criticize and fight against the injustices thatcross his society.By Emma Goldman Collectivehttp://ucl-saguenay.blogspot.com/2022/07/parution-du-dictionnaire-anarchiste-des.html_________________________________________A - I N F O S N E W S S E R V I C EBy, For, and About AnarchistsSend news reports to A-infos-en mailing listA-infos-en@ainfos.caSPREAD THE INFORMATION
