In the spring, several microelectronics factories in Isère were the target of
sabotage aimed at impacting this production, which consumes a lot of water andelectricity. The action, organized without workers from Seveso-classifiedfactories, caused collateral damage and could have caused serious pollution. ----At the beginning of April, a major sabotage took place in Grésivaudan, a valleynear Grenoble which concentrates a large part of French production ofsemiconductors in the factories of Soitec and STMicroelectronics, highlystrategic establishments in a context of shortage of components. ---- The tagsleft at the scene of one of the fires are explicit about the target and thereason for the sabotage. The objective was to impact a production that consumes alot of water and electricity by burning down transformers and high voltagecables. If we have no moral concern with the radicalism of the action, we mustquestion the tactics used to denounce the ecological impact of themicroelectronics industry. These fires cut off the production of the two industrial sites as the saboteurswanted, but they also damaged an important bridge for the movement of theinhabitants of the valley, destroyed medical equipment deprived of electricityand they could have, during the cut, have dramatic consequences in the event ofan accident in these factories classified as Seveso and therefore at risk.Beyond these risks, the CGT Soitec and STM expressed their opposition to thefires and their rejection of these dangerous actions while recognizing the vitalneed to discuss the impact of their industries. The ecological emergency pushes to radical actions against a society which runsto its loss, but the avant-gardism and the adventurism will not make it possibleto build the mass organizations necessary to bring down capitalism : indeed theseactions organized by outsiders are massively rejected by the workers concernedwho, seeing their industry under attack and the endangerment caused by sabotage, then risk showing solidarity with their management.Never endanger the neighborhoodSabotage is a useful tool in the anti-capitalist environmental struggle, but itmust be wielded by workers to be relevant, effective and safe. IEG (electricityand gas industries) personnel are the only ones who can operate power cutswithout risk, refiners must be included in the essential fight against greenhousegases, microelectronics employees can lead the debate about their industry. For this, the union organization is essential, it is she who is able to take overthe management of production and therefore of the ecological issues thataccompany it. The unions must take this into account and this is fortunately theangle adopted by the CGT of STM and Soitec in their press releases and theirarticle in the journal Options of the General Union of Executive and TechnicianEngineers (Ugict). They recall their union's commitment to "Never again" withNGOs to better take into account ecological imperatives, long marginalized intrade unions. They also claim citizen control over their industry and its exitfrom capitalist production logics. This is how as revolutionary activists we can have a real effect on theecological impact of industries, essential or not: within our class to strengthenthis dynamic.Emile (UCL Grenoble)https://www.unioncommunistelibertaire.org/?Industrie-Mieux-vaut-saboter-avec-les-concerne-es_________________________________________A - I N F O S N E W S S E R V I C EBy, For, and About AnarchistsSend news reports to A-infos-en mailing listA-infos-en@ainfos.caSPREAD THE INFORMATION
