Yesterday, Saturday 6 August, as a group Mikhail Bakunin - FAI Rome & Lazio,
within the Black Lives Matter Rome path and then the Italian AntiracistCoordination, we participated in the national demonstration called in CivitanovaMarche in response to the murder of Alika Ogochukwu. ---- A very hot square andnot only from the climatic point of view, but also with a very varied andextremely heterogeneous composition that saw the participation of about twohundred people. The departure of the procession was scheduled for 2 pm butalready half an hour before the concentration square had warmed up, both for thenumerous interviews that the journalists were preparing to submit to the victim'swife, to some members of the Nigerian community, to the trade unionist AboubakarSoumahoro and the lawyer of the Ogochukwu family, both for the various statementsthat were gradually released, with an almost provocative attempt by a significantcomponent of the march to eliminate the racist theme from the demonstration. Thisattitude has increased the already foreseeable internal tensions that explodedwhen the Nigerian community decided both to leave without waiting for the arrivalof buses from various regions of Italy (which were carrying several militants ofthe Antiracist Coordination) and to welcome an intervention by the mayor.Fabrizio Ciarapica at the end of the procession. This forcing led first to an animated discussion between the various components, then to a physical split and finally to two processions with very differentthematic contents. Thus, while the first procession was characterized by thepresence of Alika's wife and the institutional intervention, the second (where wewere present), which started only when the first demonstration was practicallyover and the mayor had gone away, it was characterized by a strong denunciationof systemic and institutional racism, by a significant presence of racialized andanti-racist people and by various anti-authoritarian interventions with an openmicrophone. The anti-racist interventions and slogans followed one another all the way up tothe arrival in front of the place where Alika was killed and from there newcoordinated fights were launched and an invitation to continue a unitaryanti-racist project. We believe it was extremely important to participate because in addition to theenergy, emotion and strength it transmitted, various issues of cultural andinstitutionalized racism were addressed, both at a territorial, national andinternational level. There have been various testimonies from many parts of theworld and the clear and explicit participation in processes of self-organizationand coordination in an anti-racist path that reflects the work that, as a group,we have been carrying out for some time. With the hope of participating more and more in paths of liberation from thedynamics of systemic racism and exploitation.Mikhail Bakunin Group - FAI Rome & Laziohttps://www.facebook.com/MikhailBakunin.roma/posts/pfbid0B9dvmxDoxoJntJRYoeqYPKdvs17CHrRu8ttBqrNP55YvFWJXk9xmqUvrfr1gyYy8l_________________________________________A - I N F O S N E W S S E R V I C EBy, For, and About AnarchistsSend news reports to A-infos-en mailing listA-infos-en@ainfos.ca
