family in Tehran, was taken away and murdered by the morality police. The young
woman had, in the eyes of Iranian theocrats, too much hair sticking out from
under her veil. Three days after her violent arrest in the middle of the street,
she reappeared beaten to death. ---- This murder sparked a revolt, part in
particular of Rojhilat, a region with a Kurdish majority in northern Iran and
from which the young woman was from. For several days, the police no longer know
where to turn: symbolic actions on social networks, demonstrations and clashes in
the streets, general strike.

The range of actions testifies to the power and diversity of the movement. The
slogan "Zen, Zengedî, Azadî" (Woman, Life, Freedom), directly translated from the
Kurmanji "Jin, Jiyan, Azadî", bears witness to the strength of the influence of
our comrades in the Kurdish revolutionary movement.

On Monday 26, several organizations of the Iranian and Kurdish left are calling
for mobilization and a general strike. The libertarian comrades take their full
part in this movement, within the limits of their means.

Regime security forces reacted violently to the protests. At least 7 people were
killed by the police and dozens injured. There are also more than 500 arrests.

As in 2009 and even more so in 2019, the ayatollahs are violently repressing the
movement and trying to cut off its head: live ammunition fired at demonstrations,
internet shutdowns, arrests and targeted threats.

The guardians of the Islamic pseudo-revolution are accustomed to this social and
political violence and do not hesitate to seize it. Women and beyond that the
entire working class will need all possible support, locally and internationally,
to finally put an end to this religious fascist yoke that the Iranian people are
subjected to.

But attacks on women and sexual and gender minorities are unfortunately not
exclusive to the regime in Tehran. The return of the Taliban to power in
Afghanistan seriously threatens all women in the country, prohibiting them from
going out on the streets alone or preventing the schooling of young girls.

In the USA, the right to abortion has been severely questioned, going as far as
the reinstatement of 15-year prison sentences to prohibit it. In Italy, the
prospect of a post-fascist government is taking shape, with cadres of the
Fratelli d'Italia party fiercely homophobic and anti-choice (for the ban on
abortion).

Even in France, transphobic circles are agitated on the pretext of a poster of
Family Planning and develops a reactionary rhetoric with the complacency of the
State.

The rights of women and sexual or gender minorities are not to beg or negotiated.
UCL supports the Iranian revolt and defends the organization of women and sexual
and gender minorities for the defense of dearly won rights and the conquest of
new rights, until the abolition of the hetero-patriarchal system, pillar of the
capitalist exploitation and the alienation of all.
