Following the police murder of a young woman, a revolt has shaken Iran for
several days. If it is difficult to have reliable information, this revolt, ledby women, seems able to deeply shake up the religious fascist regime in placesince 1979 in Iran. ---- On September 16, 2022, Mahsa Amini, visiting with herfamily in Tehran, was taken away and murdered by the morality police. The youngwoman had, in the eyes of Iranian theocrats, too much hair sticking out fromunder her veil. Three days after her violent arrest in the middle of the street, she reappeared beaten to death. ---- This murder sparked a revolt, part inparticular of Rojhilat, a region with a Kurdish majority in northern Iran andfrom which the young woman was from. For several days, the police no longer knowwhere to turn: symbolic actions on social networks, demonstrations and clashes inthe streets, general strike. The range of actions testifies to the power and diversity of the movement. Theslogan "Zen, Zengedî, Azadî" (Woman, Life, Freedom), directly translated from theKurmanji "Jin, Jiyan, Azadî", bears witness to the strength of the influence ofour comrades in the Kurdish revolutionary movement. On Monday 26, several organizations of the Iranian and Kurdish left are callingfor mobilization and a general strike. The libertarian comrades take their fullpart in this movement, within the limits of their means.Regime security forces reacted violently to the protests. At least 7 people werekilled by the police and dozens injured. There are also more than 500 arrests.DRAs in 2009 and even more so in 2019, the ayatollahs are violently repressing themovement and trying to cut off its head: live ammunition fired at demonstrations, internet shutdowns, arrests and targeted threats. The guardians of the Islamic pseudo-revolution are accustomed to this social andpolitical violence and do not hesitate to seize it. Women and beyond that theentire working class will need all possible support, locally and internationally,to finally put an end to this religious fascist yoke that the Iranian people aresubjected to.But attacks on women and sexual and gender minorities are unfortunately notexclusive to the regime in Tehran. The return of the Taliban to power inAfghanistan seriously threatens all women in the country, prohibiting them fromgoing out on the streets alone or preventing the schooling of young girls. In the USA, the right to abortion has been severely questioned, going as far asthe reinstatement of 15-year prison sentences to prohibit it. In Italy, theprospect of a post-fascist government is taking shape, with cadres of theFratelli d'Italia party fiercely homophobic and anti-choice (for the ban onabortion).Even in France, transphobic circles are agitated on the pretext of a poster ofFamily Planning and develops a reactionary rhetoric with the complacency of theState. The rights of women and sexual or gender minorities are not to beg or negotiated.UCL supports the Iranian revolt and defends the organization of women and sexualand gender minorities for the defense of dearly won rights and the conquest ofnew rights, until the abolition of the hetero-patriarchal system, pillar of thecapitalist exploitation and the alienation of all.Libertarian Communist Union, September 27, 2022https://www.unioncommunistelibertaire.org/?Vive-la-revolte-des-femmes-en-Iran-et-partout-dans-le-monde_________________________________________A - I N F O S N E W S S E R V I C EBy, For, and About AnarchistsSend news reports to A-infos-en mailing listA-infos-en@ainfos.caSPREAD THE INFORMATION
