long time from terrible working conditions, which are now getting worse at an
increasingly rapid pace with the New High School, the electronic point, the new
policy of compliance with the working hours and the confiscation of 14% in social
security. ---- Many colleagues are disillusioned with the union struggle, and do
not want to know about unions anymore. This is understandable, since the current
leadership of our union does very little or even hinders the struggle of the
category, like the betrayal of CUT in the 2015 strike. But the union is ours and
we need to
retake it for the defense of our interests.

Our political culture leads us to believe that being a union is paying a
contribution and waiting for professional unionists to take action to improve our
situation, even when we have a past of more than a decade demonstrating that they
do not and will not do so. If we really want to be valued as education workers,
we need to fight and conquer this valuation for ourselves. And the first step is
to change the course of our union and put it back in the hands of workers. For
this, we believe that the immediate task is to organize the union struggle where
it is least active: in the daily life of each school.

SINTE's statute provides for the construction of the Council of School
Representatives, which brings together common workers, elected directly among
co-workers, face to face, eye to eye. It is the instance that brings together
representatives from the base of the category to discuss the real situation of
each school. It is the guarantee of the voice of each school within the union,
which is why it is the most democratic instance of the union structure.

According to the statute, the regional and municipal directorates are responsible
for directing the election of representatives every year, in all schools, in the
first semester. We asked: is there a representative of the school where you work?
We believe the answer will be no. Why is organizing schools not a priority for
SINTE unionists? We at SIGA-SC believe that a struggle union is not just made up
of professional unionists. That's why we call each worker to mobilize their
school and elect representatives to the grassroots councils. Only in this way
will we build a strong union, with active union cells in each workplace, stopping
eternally waiting for the goodwill of union bureaucracies that, for years, have
been painting us with crumbs as if they were victories and asking us to ignore
our successive defeats.

For a union in which every worker is a unionist! Let's fight!
