It's not just the temperatures that have been stifling this summer. Taking
advantage of the usual summer demobilization, the French state has stepped upsecurity and racist offensives. Addition of the Overseas Ministry to theportfolio of the Minister of the Interior, project to restrict residence permits, increases in the number of gendarmes and police officers, maintenance of controlat the internal borders of the European Union, expulsions on racist grounds orIslamophobes: the bottom of the air in France is decidedly brown. ---- he mostpublicized example of this wave is undoubtedly Gérald Darmanin's campaign againstImam Hassan Iquioussen launched at the end of July. Born in Denain to a Moroccanfather, he did not keep French nationality and had residence permits. It was whenapplying for the renewal of his title that Darmanin chose to attack, takingadvantage of the infamous new legal arsenal developed in the separatism law of2021. The minister's motive? Anti-Semitic, misogynistic or conspiratorial outingson attacks.Hassan Iquioussen made and still makes reactionary remarks that must be condemnedas such. But no political profile, even the most reactionary, justifies anexpulsion. No more than the origin of the targeted person. Eviction is never adefensible method. How can we tolerate for a moment that a person who was born and has spent hiswhole life in France with his family be expelled to a country, therefore treatedas a "political trash", in which he has never lived ? Can the State claim todefend the "Rule of law" when it chooses to expel an individual manu militarirather than resorting to justice so that he can be condemned for his remarks ?Forbidden to contradictIn reality, the French state does not care much about the retrograde exits fromIquioussen, which have been known for many years. It is enough to listen toextracts from the hearing before the Council of State to understand that it washis criticism of France's Islamophobia that motivated the government to go on theoffensive, in the continuity of the dissolution of the CCIF.The conspiratorial argument of the Ministry of the Interior is revealing in thisrespect: denouncing the Islamophobia, however very real, of France would be partof a plan both insidious and explicit by Islamists to bring down Muslim people in"separatism" and "hatred of the Republic", all with the aim of subvertingrepublican institutions and establishing Sharia in France !ARNAUD VILETTEIf the expulsion was temporarily suspended on August 5 by the administrativecourt of Paris, the Council of State finally validated it on August 30. Thisdecision sets a very worrying precedent since it opens the door to newpolitically motivated expulsions of people, even in good standing. The mostfrightening is undoubtedly the weakness of the reactions in the political field. While the project of forfeiture of nationality for the binational terrorists hadaroused an outcry and had been refused by the Council of State, it is in thealmost general apathy that the latter considered constitutional the request forexpulsion of 'Iquioussen.Let's not be fooled by this masquerade. Far from a fight against the unbearablyreactionary ideologies of Hassan Iquioussen, it is a new expression of theIslamophobia of the state which makes Muslim people enemies from within. Noveneer will hide the racist basis of the expulsions.Anti-Racism Commissionhttps://www.unioncommunistelibertaire.org/?Offensive-securitaire-Racisme-mecanique-de-l-etat-Francais_________________________________________A - I N F O S N E W S S E R V I C EBy, For, and About AnarchistsSend news reports to A-infos-en mailing listA-infos-en@ainfos.caSPREAD THE INFORMATION
