The pseudo student union La Cocarde Étudiante has been developing since 2015 on
campuses and in high schools and brings together far-right activists from severaltendencies to lead the ideological battle within places of study. ---- In manyuniversities, the Student Cockade, a far-right group that presents itself as a"right-wing student union" has made a remarkable comeback. While some studentsare already familiar with this group founded in 2015, others have been able todiscover them recently because La Cocarde is in full expansion following theglobal dynamic of the far right. ---- Indeed the Cockade is now also increasinglypresent in high schools, often private (the high school sections have been opensince September 2021), and is trying to establish itself in new universities (itclaims to have an establishment in 22 universities in France). The Zemmourphenomenon seems to have reinforced them by having made a certain part of theyouth want to commit to the far right.Nationalists of all kindsLa Cocarde, which is simply called "right-wing", in fact brings togetherdifferent tendencies of the institutional far right, from the National Rally tothe Republicans, including Reconquête and Debout la France. The former president and general secretary of La Cocarde were also parliamentaryassistants for National Rally MEPs. La Cocarde notably called for people to votefor Zemmour and Le Pen in the presidential elections this year. But the affinities of the Cocarde go far beyond the institutional extreme rightsince a large part of their members are also close to or members of Actionfrançaise, former members of Génération identitaire or even the ultraviolentsmall group Zouaves Paris ( two far-right groups recently dissolved by thegovernment, which however does not lead a fierce fight against fascism).A large part of the members of the Cocarde are also close to or members of Actionfrançaise, former members of Génération identitaire or even the ultraviolentsmall group Zouaves Paris.DRIt is therefore thanks in particular to its links with violent groups[1]that theCockade was able to illustrate itself in attacks by the student social movementduring certain blockades of universities. Its members were also present during attacks on left-wing rallies or in anattempt to infiltrate demonstrations on May Day, or the demonstration againstviolence against women (La Cocarde provided security for the coup brilliance ofthe identity feminist group Némésis).Combining an effective communication strategy on social networks with a fairlysmooth image by simply claiming to be right-wing and fighting against leftism and"wokism" slandered all day long in the media, the Cockade manages to get itsmessage across.Universities long reputed to be impregnable bastions of the left are no longerimpervious to the discourse of the far right, which now has major media powerthanks to Bolloré's media (notably CNews), but also to a very influentialfachosphere on the internet, and a force important policy with 89 RN deputies.La Cocarde intends to win the cultural battle [2]and relies on various far-rightcontroversies and theories such as the racist and conspiracy theory of the greatreplacement or the fight against gender "theory".Communication strategySo how do you counter them? If their discourse is increasingly accepted thanks tothe media and political machine, it is still up to us to fight and denounce it.It is important to inform students about the reality of the ideas defended bythis "union" and to rely on our side on the real needs of students. It is also easy to demonstrate the links of the Cocarde with neo-Nazi groups andto recall that the arrival of this organization is a source of violence andaggression. It is important to carry out information and communication work with the studentand teacher unions to recall the reality of the speeches and actions of theCockade but also to counter them physically on the ground and prevent them fromspreading their ideology. fascist among the youth.Benjamin (UCL Orleans)To validate[1]"The far right tries to conquer the universities with their fists",Streetpress.com, March 15, 2022.[2]"La Cocarde: campus wars with French sauce", Alternative Libertaire, March 2021.https://www.unioncommunistelibertaire.org/?Offensive-reactionnaire-Les-fachos-de-retour-sur-les-bancs-de-l-ecole_________________________________________A - I N F O S N E W S S E R V I C EBy, For, and About AnarchistsSend news reports to A-infos-en mailing listA-infos-en@ainfos.caSPREAD THE INFORMATION
