Since 1990, women in Latin America and the Caribbean have come together every
September 28 to demand access to safe, legal and free abortion without stigma orcriminalization. This World Abortion Day was chosen in reference to the Brazilianlaw known as the "Free Belly" of September 28, 1871, which freed all childrenborn of slave parents. Using the slogan " For a free belly ", they want the endof slavery to also be that of belly slavery. ---- In countries authorizingabortion, the battle today is around the means allocated (places for abortion, trained doctors, financial support) but also over the deadlines to be extended,or even eliminated - like this is the case in Canada. Such a measure would allowwomen and people in gender minorities to have free abortions in their country ofresidence and would erase inequalities of access between individuals fromdifferent backgrounds. Moreover, we must put an end to the discourse infantilizing women, who would needlaws to know when they can or cannot have an abortion. Women know what is goodfor them, they do not need legislators deciding for them (and without any medicalreason to support such and such a delay) on moral, religious or philosophicalquestions[1].The right to dispose of one's body, to freely choose one's pregnancy, is afundamental freedom. The same goes for all the rights to dispose of one's body, from the transition from medication to the refusal of mutilation for intersexpeople. For all women, and people in gender minorities around the world, it istime for solidarity. This September 28, 2022, we are fighting for:Resources for the public hospitalThe removal of the double conscience clauseSubstantial means for the associations which fight on a daily basis to allowaccess to abortionThe development of education in affective and sexual life allowing everyone tomake free and informed choicesThe abolition of any time limit or stage imposed in the course of abortionbecause the notion of duration of time is not compatible with a real right todispose of one's body.Free and equal access to information, medical care, contraception and abortionprocedures, for all, throughout the territory.Mandatory training for health personnel to improve access for trans, intersexand/or non-binary people to gynecological care, and for abortion techniques andsupport for women to be part of their initial trainingThe decriminalization of abortion everywhere in the worldThe Union Communiste Libertaire is a signatory of the unitary appeal of theAbortion Collective in Europe - Women decide. We share all the claims. However,we regret the invisibilization of trans struggles in this appeal. Thisinvisibilization is all the more regrettable as it comes less than a month afterthe surge of transphobic remarks targeting trans people and family planningcomrades. However, cisgender women are not the only ones who can have anabortion. The right to abortion also concerns intersex, transgender and/ornon-binary people capable of being pregnant. We repeat it:Free abortion, everywhere, for everyone, all the time!To validate[1]See on our site the video published on March 6, 2022: "My body, my choice, myfist...", download our vadecum "How to abort?» on all RS and sites of our localgroupshttps://www.unioncommunistelibertaire.org/?Toustes-en-lutte-le-28-septembre-pour-notre-liberte-a-disposer-de-notre-corps_________________________________________A - I N F O S N E W S S E R V I C EBy, For, and About AnarchistsSend news reports to A-infos-en mailing listA-infos-en@ainfos.caSPREAD THE INFORMATION
