The elections last September in Sweden, lost by the social democrats to the
benefit of an alliance of the right, is the symbol of the systemic incapacity ofthe social democratic strategy. ---- The Swedish legislative elections ofSeptember 11 saw the narrow victory (of 3 seats) of a coalition made up ofliberals, conservatives and the far right. The party of the latter, the Democratsof Sweden (Sverigedemokraterna, SD), founded by neo-Nazi militants[1], obtainedfor the occasion the second highest score with 20.5% of the vote. ---- Thepresence of the extreme right as a political force installed in the politicallandscape is no longer a surprise since in 2014, this same party of the Democratsof Sweden, with its 49 seats in Parliament, had succeeded in bringing down thesocial democratic government of the time, without integrating the right-wingcoalition. The novelty today is that the far right is part of a right-wing bloc(of all rights) which announced itself from the campaign ready to work hand in hand.A "de-demonization" that benefits the capitalistsThe first lesson of these elections is that the Liberals are quite prepared, ashere, to govern with the far right to advance their ultraliberal agenda, althoughthe Social Democrats do not represent, like the PS in France, a threat to thecapitalist system. The far right is not and will never be a solution for thosewho want to get rid of this system, it is even an effective guardian[2]. Just asit is illusory to think that the far right would normalize itself by becominginstitutionalized. On the contrary, it is the whole system that is "extremely right".Second lesson, the social-democratic project - in the sense of achieving throughelections and the seizure of power in a legitimate way in the process ofbourgeois liberal democracy to impose socialism - is systematically doomed tofailure. We had no doubts about it on our side, but this hope returns cyclicallyand sometimes even wins over the enthusiasm of certain anti-capitalist comrades.Even at its height in the 1970s, social democracy could not impose ambitiousreform projects whose outcome would have been to give a little more power toemployees at the expense of shareholders[3]. And rather than recording thefailure of the reformist path adopted in 1917, it became the zealous architect ofthe progressive liberalization of the country : public services, hospitals, schools, pensions, everything been gradually opened up to the private sector withthe effect of a growing increase in inequalities and a triumphant extreme right.Today, for lack of prospects for collective emancipation and political, economicand social equality, the electoral left is doomed in the short or medium term. Wewill not mourn her. But it is necessary to collectively build a new emancipatorysocial project to oppose liberals, conservatives and reactionaries of all stripes.David (UCL Chambery)https://www.unioncommunistelibertaire.org/?Suede-Le-crepuscule-de-la-social-democratie_________________________________________A - I N F O S N E W S S E R V I C EBy, For, and About AnarchistsSend news reports to A-infos-en mailing listA-infos-en@ainfos.caSPREAD THE INFORMATION
