protest, with which we remembered two people from the queer community murdered on
October 12 in Bratislava, as well as the systemic context of oppression. Strong
expressions and the overall energy of the protest, full of anger, anger, sadness
and humor, created an atmosphere that we have never experienced in Slovakia. ----
It was great to see that the organizers decided not to do a media event in order
to sound their best. In their speeches, they did not put a napkin in front of
their mouths and very succinctly named the problems they face in their daily

We also add to our statement published on October 13:

It is difficult to find words to express our anger and sadness after yesterday's
attack. In these difficult times, we think of the people who were most affected
by yesterday.

However, we will not allow such an act to stop the efforts for a society in which
we can live with dignity and freedom regardless of our gender or sexual orientation.

We realize that change cannot be achieved only by fighting in the economic field,
but must go hand in hand with the promotion of values and relationships that lead
to diversity and equality.

The queer community faces specific and multifaceted oppression in workplaces and
schools, on the streets and in families. Let yesterday's attack be a reminder
that we still have a lot of work to do and that such actions cannot ultimately
cripple or stop us.
